I thought it should be one month prior to the date of the wedding, is that right?

I would put six weeks. People never seem to adhere to the dates on the rsponse card.

I think I put my date one month prior. No matter how much time you give people, there are still people that arent going to respond and you have to contact them.

my wedding is sept 13 and i'm putting aug 16. i don't know why but i thought a saturday would be better. although i'm sure like someone else said that no matter what you do some people won't respond or will send it late :)

We didn't have ad respond ate on ours we put 'please favour us with an early response' We got most of them back right away.

We're doing about 6 weeks before - I thought this sounded really early but, FMIL and our caterer said that was good.

We put a week before our final head count due date. As mentioned before, there will be people you will have to call and this way you have a few days to do it. Also, for some reason, some people think thersvp cards should be mailed on the date due

I think 1 month is fine too.
Even if you date it 6 weeks, there will ALWAYS be people who will NOT send it on time
