Response from Stop & Shop re: double coupons

This is what they emailed me:

'This was a program we inherited from the former Edward's stores. stores on
Long Island were the only stores in our chain that doubled coupons over .99 cents. Having a unified coupon policy thoughtout the Stop and Shop supermarket chain will allow us to offer our customers increased discounts
and rewards both in our circular and in our promotional mailings.'

That makes a lot of sense - they are increasing customer discounts by not doubling $1 coupons.

I got that same email today! I was looking for the old thread to put it in but couldnt find it
stupid answer if you ask me!
