I have a really good response rate going... 103 yes 20 no
but 16 of the 20 nos is from FH's family and his parents list was about half the size of my parents to begin with. The wedding is going to be so one sided. I feel so bad.
He sounds so upset whenever I tell him a no from his family.

Our situation is very similar. I have a huge family and he does not. Dont stress over this... you're all family now so It will be great!

Re: Responses
same here. his family is bigger than mine but they are upstate and won't make the trip. it's just annoying because we would do it for them if they asked but they won't do it for us. I told him to invite more friends and coworkers, as i'm not inviting any of my coworkers. I thought that was little fair, so at least he'll have some more people on his side.

Re: Responses
That sux.. it's the opposite here - I have maybe 6 people from my family coming (including my mom/dad/sister)... my side is going to be so empty :( it makes me cry all the time and my mom tells me 'just don't have a his and her side then' but it's not that... it's that nobody will come out for my wedding and I'd go to the happiest days of their lives if I was invited.
Oh well I guess if they don't want to be there - I don't want them there!

Dont feel sad... my whole wedding will be FHs family .. my family is all overseas and they can not afford to fly to come to my wedding.. the exchange rate now is 4 to 1, so 100 for us is 400 for them, so they cant afford to buy plane tickets plus live their lives lol.. so we arent having any family there either.. I am really bummed about it, but I understand its beyond our control. At least I will have friends and coworkers there to love and support me

Mine are all far away too - not overseas but West Coast.
I'm glad I'm not the only one in this situation though it'd be silly to think I was. Not that I'm happy you're in the same boat as me
I do get to have reception on the West Coast which is cool... and my mom gets to plan it which will make her happy too. I guess it's all meant to turn out this way.
I'm sorry for hijacking this thread ack.. I'll stop

I understand. We had 300 people at our reception and only 40 were from DH's side... his entire family lives in Europe so it was hard for them to come over!

Oh sorry to hear that. But I guess that is understandable. His family is from NJ, so I don't know what their excuse is.

I'll be in your FHs shoes shortly, if my shower is any indication. As it is, my entire invite list from my side, including friends and BP is like 35 people, that includes the B list, and 8 are OOT and 7 will just say no on general principle. FH has like 147 people on his A list, and I would say 125 of them are family

I am sorry to hear this, it is upsetting that he is sad about the responses. Encourage him that all the people that will be there love and support him.

Don't feel bad so far all of our NO's are from FHs family too. Almost all of his family is from OOT so we expected that this may happen.
