Hi, all. It's been a long time since I've been on the site. Got married almost 4 years ago, and this site was extremely helpful then, so I am hoping you guys can help me out again.
My bro is getting married, but he and his fiance can't afford a huge wedding, so I am looking for an inexpensive catering hall, or even a restaurant.
Can anyone recommend a place? They live in Albany, but have family and friends in Westchester (and me on Long Island, of course), so the place can be on Long Island or in Westchester. Preferably on the island, as I'll be making most of the arrangements.
Thanks for your help, and best wishes, everybody!!

Re: restaurant reception?
we had our eparty at Verdi's of Whitestone: It included: 1 hour passed horsdevours, open bar, hot & cold Antipasto on every table, a salad course, a pasta course and 6 choices of entrees, plus fruit on the tables and a cake with coffe & tea..it was about $55 pp. I think the price went up a bit..but it's worth it! They have two rooms- the downstairs will hold up to 80 i think and then upstairs holds up to 150.
It's def worth a shot to check them out.
I've heard good things about Riccardos, but I've never been.
Good Luck!

Re: restaurant reception?
I would definitley have them check out the Seaford Memorare Catering Hall in Seaford. ...We had our E-Party there and they do a lot of weddings as well. The room is really nice and for like $35-50pp, you get a lot for the money..full open bar, dinner, etc...Everyone kept saying how nice the room was and how much fun they had, and the food was really good too...

Re: restaurant reception?
what about Prime in Huntington? Did I miss how many people they were inviting? If you are near the South Shore - Gatsby in Islip is also very nice rest/wedding atmosphere.

Re: restaurant reception?
You should check out the Milleridge Inn Carriage House. We had our E-party there and it was amazing! The service and the food is out of this world. I highly recommend it.
FM me for any info

Re: restaurant reception?
captain bills. they are primarily a restaurant - their food is amazing. they also have several smaller private rooms for small weddings, christenings, RD's that kind of thing. The bayview house is next door, and that is their separate catering hall. their prices are worth looking into......

Re: restaurant reception?
prices will also depend on day of week and month of year.
capt bill's will do smaller weddings ( we checked for 60 people) but for Sun in Sep 2007 price they gave us was $75. similar for Westbury Manor, Geo Washingtom Manor and Harbor club. so unless you do different month I don't think those places will work.
I hear that Thomas Stewart manor in Farmingdale is reasonable. you might want to check that.
Memorare in Seaford - - they told me min was 100 since room is so big. just so you know. but they might tell you differently. there is also the Kof C in Oceanside that I hear is nice and also American Legions do that too.
Galaxie Caterers on Rte 109 has some reasonable prices but I know nothing about quality/food/service there.
hth.

Re: restaurant reception?
Thanks to all who responded. You gave me many suggestions and I plan on checking them all out. I saw Verdi today (Westbury). It was not bad, so I'm keeping it on the list for my bro and his fiance to see when they come down. Can't wait to see the others!
