Re: Restaurant Recommendation in the Village?
Il Mulino is on West 3rd near sullivan, excellent food, expensive
There's a good sushi place on LaGuardia between West 3rd and Bleecker, on the west side of the street, I don't remember the name
I would not write anything on the invites.

Re: Restaurant Recommendation in the Village?
If he likes Italian, you could try Il Mulino on west 3rd. Great place but costly and must have a reservation. It is great for special occasions though!

El Faro on Greenwich and Horatio....very, very good authentic Spanish food. FH actually ordered take out from there and brought it home to Brooklyn when we were living there.

Re: Restaurant Recommendation in the Village?
Thompson and Sullivan don't cross-are you sure that's where the club is?
What kind of food does he like? Do you want a fancy, $$$$ dinner, or something more casual??
My friends and I love Cowgirl Hall of Fame on Hudson St (and Charles ?). Loud, busy, a real village 'scene'. Awesome margaritas and Frito pie.
Sushi Samba is on 7th South. I'm not into sushi, but this is a fun place. Great cocktails.
Five Points on Great Jones is very good.
I haven't been, but friends really liked Snack Taverna (Greek, but kind of nouveau fusion Greek). Also, I've heard that Jane on Houston and Thompson is very good.
I'd make sure that friends know you will pay the cover, but they need to pay for drinks. Maybe spread this by word of mouth. You don't want any misunderstandings.
Have fun!!

Re: Restaurant Recommendation in the Village?
I also think that you should not indicate anything monetary in the invite- I cannot put my finger on it, but it seems very inappropriate. I think when it is time to go to the club- just pay the cover charge and discreetly mention to everyone that this portion of the evening is on you.
As for a restaurant- I love this place Negril Village which is not too far from the comedy club- they serve Carribean food- yummy.
