My dad asked me to find a restaurant in Nassu County (south shore, not far from Oceanside) for my sister's b-day dinner for this weekend. Since I moved 6 yrs ago I'm not too familiar with restaurants on LI anymore.
She likes Italian, and we went to Dodici in Rockville Centre last year. That was good because even though it's Italian it also had steaks, which is why FH and my dad prefer. Something similar would be nice. He's thinking something that is not 'nouveau cuisine' since he and FH like 'normal food' (as he puts it!) and something more casual than dressy and reasonably priced ($15 per entree avg).
If anyone can make a suggestion I'd really appreciate it!
Thank you Mary

OMG wacky - is that still there? The one on Long Beach Rd?
Shows you how little I know O'side now that I moved!
I'll mention it to my dad. Thanks

Sounds even better! Is it near South Nassau? That one I never heard of. Thank you again

Yes La Parma is before South Nassau. Foods supposed to be good, I have ate at the one in Williston Park

What about Matteo's (sp?) in Merrick...family style italian....yummy!
DH's family loves Grappa on Hempstead Turnpike in East Meadow...may be a bit further than you wanted though...

Grappa is great- we tried it recently for the first time! Great martinis too! I've heard good things about laparma, but have never personally been there.
