Re: Resume, Anyone really good at them
Number one tip is to show tangible, measurable results, not just skills.
ie:
Increased sales in department by 12% for 3 years in a row.
Member of Million Dollar Round Table since 1998.
Exceeded quota consistantly for last 27 months.
Reduced waiting time in department by half through implementing organizational plan that streamlined process.
The benefit of something like the last bullet point is that it states a specific thing you accomplished, but leaves it open for them to ask 'tell me about how you did that' so you can toot your horn there and be comfortable talking about something you've done.
You might want to try one exercise. Write down 10 things you've accomplished in your career life that you are particularly proud of, then work those accomplishments into your resume. This will help you focus on things you have accomplished that can translate to your resume, not just skills you can do.

Re: Resume, Anyone really good at them
My friend Jill does some resume consulting on the side and is really good. Not sure of her rates but I am sure she could cut you a nice break. FM me if you are interested.
Alternately, if you have something already written up, you might just want to post it or email it out to friends and just ask people to informally critique. That's what all of my friends seem to be doing these days...

Thanks Ladies, Allison I have done that and every sends it fine, but no one bites
I think its because I work in a union, many corps dont like that. I guess they think we have a union mentality.

I have worked in recruiting for technology and financial services so I can help there...not sure how many similarities are in insurance and healthcare.
Email me if you need help.

Re: Resume, Anyone really good at them
wacky - are you just looking in NYC? We chatted once before and you know my company deals with mostly union type people. Right now, the company and hiring is pretty slow but you never know...what comes up.

Hmmm...sorry to hear that.
What kind of job are you looking for? Maybe it's the industry...??

Re: Resume, Anyone really good at them
With medical costs going up and increases in employer medical contributions I didnt think the health insurance industry would be doing so bad.

Yeah, who knows in this crazy economy.
If you want, I can take a look at your resume, though I can't say I know your field well enough to know why specifically there are no bites...
