Returns at BBB for cash

Hi Ladies,

Has anybody returned gifts from their registry to BB&B for cash recently? I have heard that some of the locations have stopped this. I have an attic full of gifts and have hit some really bad financial times.

I use to work there and i believe you cant get cash for it ...they will give you store credit

I know people that did it last year. The Lake Success store was still doing it. Westbury may still be, Im not sure.

Westbury still does it. Lake Success no longer does. I think Westbury may be the only one still doing it and Im pretty sure you can only bring 2-3 items at a time :)

The cashier at the one in Westbury told me that they give cash back when I was buying my friend her gifts. If you don't have the receipt they might only give you cash if it is marked as bought on your registry. I would just go and try to return the items. What is the worse thing that they can say?

Thanks all. I will try the one at Westbury then. Too bad Lake Success doesn't do it anymore, I live right by there!

when i returned I heard the manager say she can return for cash but only if she pushes for it ask her if she minds store credit first.

The first time we took the store credit, the second time we took the cash to finish our other registry.

I did it fora few different items at Westbury -- no problems and just told them we got duplicates and they looked up the registry and refunded the money. This was in April.

I just returned a bunch of gifts at the 5 towns BBB and they gave me $430 in cold hard cash.

We were able to return a few gifts for cash but only stuff that we received doubles of on the registry. There was one gift that we did have 2 of on the registry but then realized we only wanted the one and they kinda gave us a hard time returning it. They did eventually just give us the cash but it looks like you're really not supposed to do that.

I did, but it was about a year ago. At first they said store credit only but when I had registered they told me registry gifts could be returned for cash. I told them that and they asked at what location I had registered and it was the same one so they gave me the cash. It was a lot of money too!

I was in the Lake Success store at the end of February and they still did returns for cash...

Thank you for all the replies. Maybe I'll try Lake Success first, since they are closest. As another poster said, all they can say is no , right.

ooh great to know! I work right by there and just saw that someone bought me the crock pot i put on my registry, and the same day someone else bought me a different crock pot that was NOT put on my registry lol weird right??
