Review: Bridgeview Yacht Club 09-10-11

Hi Girls. This is the review of my vendors for my amazing 9/10/11 wedding. It was above and beyond anything I hoped it to be and have these people to thank. I found many of my vendors through this website so I know how helpful these reviews can be, I hope mine is helpful to someone else out there...

BRIDGEVIEW YACHT CLUB: A+++++++++
-Originally I booked them because I fell in love with their ballroom's ceilings. I wanted something different, and they had it. I always liked the wedding we went to in tents, and this was a a more glamorous version of that. There is not a single negative thing I can say about BYC. From top to bottom it was a wonderful experience working with them. Eric is an AMAZING person and a fantastic manager! Everything went flawless, and if there were any issues they Eric and Samantha dealt with them without me knowing or noticing. All my of my guests cannot stop raving about the cocktail hour and dinner. If you are thinking of having your event here...DO IT!!!! FANTASTIC place

FATHER DAVID GRAINSON: A+
-When it was decided that getting married at BYC would be more convenient than my church, I wanted to find an officiant that would give me some of the catholic church experience. Father David is a very soft spoken, kind, and helpful man. We were so pleased to have chosen him. He spoke beautiful words at the ceremony and really did a great job. He was a pleasure to work with.

LOVEMOREPHOTO: A+
-If you are looking for unique, gorgeous, and emotional photographs; as well as incredible photographers LOVEMORE is your choice. It is a married couple, and they are not only awesome photographers but even more awesome people. My family and friends were in awe of how 'ninja'-like they were. Nobody even knew they were around most of the night. Everything about their work and their work ethic is just fabulous and I could go on about them forever.

MARIE STACK: A+
-I had it set in my mind that I wanted a string trio for our ceremony so found Marie on here. Once we started going through music selection, she not only found the sheet music and learned a song that I had my heart set on for the recessional, but also suggested I change my instrument selection to better suit the song. It was a great decision, and everything sounded lovely. She is an absolute professional and total sweetheart. She responded promptly to each email and genuinely seems to love her business. When our DJ wouldn't give up a mic for our ceremony, Marie's flute player gave up his for us. She was wonderful to work with from start to finish.

LEGEND LIMOS: A+
-Prompt, friendly, and professional service. Beautiful and clean cars. What more can you ask for in a car service? When it turned out the 18 passenger bus we originally booked would be out of service for our day, they sent over a gigantic 40 pass party bus...while I first thought it was ridiculously big...everyone had a great time in there. For our car ride from BYC at the end of the night, they sent over a gorgeous white Bentley--a perfect end to the perfect day. They provided our airport transfer to and from JFK for our honeymoon as well, again everything was flawless.

BODYROCK: B+
- I'm torn about my review for them. They were fine leading up the wedding, except a week prior there was drama over a mic for our ceremony. It was a bit ridiculous and a little annoying, but whatever it all worked out in the end. They didn't play most of my 'must play list', and gave my brother a hard time when he requested some of the songs that I even had on the list...but the dance floor was packed most of the night and my guests said they loved the energy of the night that their music provided so I can't really complain. They played all the right songs for all the important dances etc, and everyone had fun so that's all that matters. The lighting they had looked great on the BYC ceilings and really gave the room a great feel.

VERBENA DESIGNS: A+
-Jen is fantastic. I went to her with my ideas for a romantic, candlelit, simple but elegant night and she turned it into a reality. The ceremony 'altar' at BYC is plain and stark white, so Jen created a beautiful backdrop trellis with branches and pink/purple flowers. She nailed everything I wanted right on the head. We alternated high and low centerpieces, and both were gorgeous. She was a joy to work with and such a genuinely nice person. I'm so happy to have booked her, she really created a beautiful atmosphere and I'm so thankful for her and her staff.

DESTINY JAZZ TRIO: A+
-This is a friend of mine's jazz band, which played during our cocktail hour. They are great! We continue to receive compliments about their wonderful talent, classy appearance, and overall amazing presence.

VILLAGE BRIDAL SALON, BABYLON: D
-Ugh, is really all I can say about them. They were great when I was there selecting my dress and buying it, but everything went downhill from that point. I selected my Maggie Sottero 'Harlow' dress within 10 minutes and 5 dresses of being there. I made it clear that I didn't want a strapless dress but I didn't want a bolero either. I wanted a dress that had some capability of having 3/4 sleeves built onto it if it didn't already have that...they promised me that it was possible with the dress I selected (that was in FEB when we ordered it). Fast forward to the end of July, and nobody even knows where my dress is. One girl told me Maggie sent it from their warehouse on July 7, and that it should've been there by July 18...another girl told me it was mailed July 24 and should be there by July 29. Long story short, the dress didn't arrive until about Aug 15 (the wedding was sept 10; so you can imagine my nervousness) Nobody even called me, I had to call them and found it had been sitting there for 2 days. I go for my first fitting, and find out that not only didn't they order the extra lace to make the sleeves, but that it's not even possible on this dress. I understand people make mistakes, and fine if the the girl selling the dress to me didn't know this; however, there were 5 other workers just sitting at the desk area listening to my tell her the whole time how important the sleeves were to me. Someone should've known, or at least offered to double check with a seamstress to make sure it was possible. Not wait less than a month to tell me it wasn't possible. Blah blah blah $700 in alterations later, I had a bolero of the matching lace that did turn out beautiful and a dress that they wouldn't let me try on again once they did the final alteration. They were taking in the bust, and promised that it would be right, but since they pressed it I wasn't allowed to try it on again. 'Oh, It's a corset back, so even if it's not right you can pull it tighter' was one girl's words to me. Let's just say that when I stepped into my dress on my wedding, the girls pulled me as tight as they could and I still had almost 3' of excess fabric in the bust. My MIL had to take it in quick for me before the ceremony, b/c the tape we were using wasn't doing the trick anymore. To spend almost $2k on a dress, and then another $700 in alterations, and then have to rely on double stick tape and a MIL's sewing skills the day of your wedding....is not right. The seamstress I dealt with was a very nice person, and I don't blame her for the sleeve misunderstanding...that was the salespeople/managers but somebody didn't take in the dress enough.

TACORI: A+
-Ordered my earrings and bracelet from them. Great sparkle on the items and great service from the personal shopping assistant, Lindsay.

ETSY: A+
-Ordered my ribbon headband, birch card box, and various other items from them. Everything was unique, one of a kind, and received TONS of compliments on all items I got from them. I love that website!

THE SWEET PEACE BAKERY: A
-Allison is very creative, talented, and helpful. Cake was beautiful and delicious. We ordered cupcakes from her as well for the rehearsal dinner. They were also delicious.

MEN'S WEARHOUSE: B
-Most of the guys had to make two trips before they had all the correct items in all the correct sizes.

HONEYMOON_SANDALS GRANDE ST.LUCIAN: A
- We went all out and booked the beach Rondoval suite. The 'room' was beyond amazing, private patio with pool, hot tub, patio set, lounge chairs, and hammock. We also had two butlers, which we rarely ever used but were good for making dinner and excursion reservations. Some people had their butlers do every little thing for them, but we're not too fussy and like doing our own thing so we didn't fully utilize that service. It's a gorgeous island, friendly people, and wonderful place to go.

Phew...Sorry it's so long, I think I remembered everyone in there. If you need any other information just let me know! I would've put pics up but my computer isn't cooperating. Happy Planning : )
