review of registering at BBB and Macy's! LONG

review of registering at BBB and Macy's! LONG

So, FH and I actually went to register this past weekend! We stopped by BBB (the one near the Roosevelt Field Mall), and this super annoying lady tried to teach us how to register -- what we 'must have' in china, towels and bedding. I mean, we are 30, live together already in an apartment, and do not care about registering for towels! Then she wouldn't give us the scanner gun and she told us to go look at china only then come back to her when we were ready to discuss. We told her were had no interest in registering for china there, to please just give us the gun because we knew what we were looking for (translation - we are not babies). So we actually now have stuff on our registry, lots of cookware stuff, even a wok and an ice cream maker!

Then we went to Macy's at Roosevelt Field Mall, and in the whole place only put on our registry a turkey cooking pot. We were sort of depressed with the selection there....

Then we checked out Williams Sonoma and Bloomingdales as a replacement for Macy's. And we are definitely going to register at Bloomingdale's next! The one at the Roosevelt Field Mall is awesome and if we had more time and energy we would have registered then, but we wanted to come home and rest.

I was thinking of registering at Macys, but if I do I'm going to set everything up in the Herald Square store- they have a large selection of everything there.

As long as something is on your registry, even if another macy's doesnt have it, they will order it and ship it to wherever you want. So if a family member wants to buy you something and they go to Macys in Roosevelt field, they will ship it to their home or wherever they want it shipped free of charge.

They will only be charged shipping if the item is purchased online, otherwise it's free

I registered at the BBB in Westchester and it was fantastic - one of the easiest experiences I ever had.

I tried to register at Macy's 3 separate times - 3 separate locations and finally lost it. I was horrified at the lack of selection. It seems I couldn't find a store with everything and I finally just gave up.

So I highly recommend BBB!

We had a similiar experience with BB&B, but we just let the lady have her moment- I worked in retail for a long time so I could understand that she was just doing her job- as annoying as she was

I actually noticed that we got more accomplished while we were at home in our PJ's on the couch with the laptops adding stuff on-line. In the store it was almost overwhelming. Try that!

Thanks for the review!

Is Bloomingdale's very expensive though? Like is it more expensive then Macy's?

I also heard about BBB - that they are awesome at allowing you to do returns if you need to after everything is said and done. I have heard they are very pleasant to work with.

Anyone register at Linens & Things?
What about Fortunoff?

When it comes to china and silverware, Bloomingdales is a bit more expensive but nothing horrible. Macy's seemed to have silverware place settings for $30-$70, and bloomingdales looked to have their silverware settings starting at $40-50. But if someone is willing to pony up $700+, they can buy you a whole chest of silverware for like 12 people! haha.

Well, it might be more $$$$, but we didn't want to register at Macy's for stuff we really didn't like. Plus we plan on putting inexpensive items on our registry from BBB so people with money issues or students who live on a fixed budget can buy something without spending more that $30 for a cool present (cool paper towel rack, steak knives, chip-n-dip fancy bowl, etc.).
