Review on the Maryland Wedding we went to this weekend!!
Ok girls, so I have come to the distinct conclusion that nowhere in all the country are there weddings that even TOUCH LI/NY weddings! So the church was lovely and the ceremony beautiful! She had a string quartet and some of her song choice were just excellent. She used a Vivaldi's Spring from the Four Season as they lit their Unity candle and I loved that! I had never thought of that before! They each had 8 in their bp so it was HUGE!!!!!!!!!! And her color was HOT pink like I mean Barbie HOT pink. But the girls all looked gorgeous. The Hot pink for the vests and ties for the guys I thought were too much, but Pink is the bride's fav color.
Something they did during the ceremony that I really thought was nice and am now considering doing, is instead of the parents/grandparents being seated as the last of the guest before the procession, they were part of the procession. The entire Grooms side, including the groom walked the parents and grandparents down the aisle. The groom walked his parents down the aisle and I thought that was just so special. Then all the groomsmen waited at the altar as I am used to seeing. I really thought that added a special touch.
So on to the RH, which was in a Firehouse hall and it was really really really really HOT. They crammed over 200 people in this room and I mean crammed. When I tried to get up from the table my chair hit the chair behind me. It was TIGHT. The cocktail hour was really sparse. Just veg crudite and and cheese and crackers. Then the dinner was buffet and the food was really not the best. The one thing they did have that was excellent was thinly sliced roast beef with either horseradish sauce or capt morgan bbq sauce. FH loved that. The drinks were good and very strong, it was open bar. The entire RH was decorated in HOT pink! Crazy! But it really was the Bride's taste and she represented herself really well. She looked lovely and I was so happy for them.
There were A LOT of boxes on the gift table, but there was a cardbox. We always try to give $$ cuz we know how hard it is to get on your feet when you first start out together. That is one thing that I am really concerned about. Since FH's family is all from MD they will likely be bringing boxes instead of $$, which I know shouldn't matter and we are not trying to be greedy, we just really need the $$ that is all.
Anyways, it was fun but really really hot and sweaty. FH and I forgot our camera so I had to pick up a disposable YUCK! So I have to wait to get that developed and I will show you guys pics!
