RH

Hello Ladies,

I recently got engaged and are planning a longer engagement.

My question is when you went to look at RHs for 2011 were alot of dates booked already. I am trying to explain to FH that we can still look at places now and book a place even though its 2- 2.5 yrs away because things book quickly and we can lock in a price.

TIA!

Re: RH

Hey! congrats and welcome!

We went looking in jan/feb 2009 for oct/nov/dec 2011. Some places we went to had dates booked and others not so much. I think though that it is def not too soon to at least start looking! See what you like, what you dont. You can def take your time to make this decision. You can also price everything out and work out your budget (which for us was great! we were able to see how much we needed to save and ho long we have and what we could stretch and what not).

I hope this helps!

if you need any information please let us know!

I will bump the vendor thread for you, so you can see who went to look where and so you can get familiar with places and what not!

xxoo

Re: RH

Thank you!

I just read the Vendor thread. Very helpful.

Because you booked long in advance what is your payment plan like. If you dont mind me asking.

We aren't going to start looking until we have our eparty which is oct. So I have time to make a list of places we are interested in and in our price range.

Hey-
Congrats & Welcome! It's never too early to at least start looking. I got engaged that end of May & we just booked out RH this past Monday. We were very picky when making a decision (we really wanted something on the water in June).

While we only looked at 4 places before we made our decision, I know Land's End only gave us 5 Sat/Sun evenings out of all of May & June 2011 that were available. The other three (Huntington Harbor Club, Cresthollow Country Club, & Lombardi's on the Bay) seemed to have a little more availability. I think it really depends on when you're thinking, where you're thinking, & your flexibility.

If anything I think locking in a price is a HUGE benefit of booking now. They can only go up from here. *A NOTE OF CAUTION: There are vendors that will include a clause in their contracts that states that if the cost of a good or service increases by a given percent, you are responsible for paying a portion of that percent, regardless of the price you were given at signing. I have not seen it yet, but they can do it! *

Good Luck in your search!

FH and i went right away even though our engagement was going to be 2.5 years. We booked because even some of the venues were saying that poeple were coming in already.

I'm sure you wont have any problems if you wait but...it will ease your stress to know that your date doesn't have to be changed for the perfect venue.

Good Luck and Congrats!

Re: RH

We got engaged in the end of 2008 and started looking in Feb..we originally wanted May 2010 but then pushed it back a year to 2011 due to me finsihing school and budgeting.

If you book now it will probably save you money plus you can take your time and get a great deal. Also, some places will tell you that other couples are inquiring about the same date (trying to get you to book on the spot) 2 places we waited a few months to go back and they both had the dates we were inquiring about

Re: RH

if you book now you will get thise years rates you wait till next year you are going to probably pay more.

My payment plan with Chateau Briand is $1000 every 3 months then one bigger payment the week before my wedding.

i booked in Feb for March 2011... if you want to book at a popular venue you might want to book as soon as you can.

Re: RH

I went to see 7 RH's and they did not have many bookings in 2011...at least not for January 2011 which is off season. Nor did the RH's think i was booking too early. FH also thought I was kinda crazy for going to look in advance but then once he saw how long island weddings work, he understood (he's from P.R.) The only place that actually had something booked on the day we were looking for was Jericho Terrace.

I would go as soon as you can. It would be great to lock in a price and then you can relax a bit and take your time with planning the other things. It's def not too early to book 2011 dates.
