Do you usually use the cake the RH gives you or do you get your own?

Re: RH Cakes
I think most people use the one the RH provides b/c it's easier and probably cheaper....but if you want something really specific you may have to bring in your own! Many RH's work with specific bakeries so you can ask that in advance and check our that bakery's work even before booking to see what your options would be. The RH may include certain cakes in your package, and if you want something more complex you may have to pay $$ for an upgrade (like at many RH's having Fondant is an upgrade....not at mine though )

Re: RH Cakes
I'm anal about the way things look, but even I was fine with using our RH's cake. We had a full viennese so I felt like it was silly to pay hundreds extra for a cake when there will be so many other desserts.
Our cake wasn't overly elaborate but it matched our colors, was pretty and tasted amazing. I'm happy with my decision not to have upgraded.

Re: RH Cakes
Can I just say that I think we share a brain....I got engaged a month ago and am already doing seating charts...the rh was booked BEFORE i got the ring...I redefine bridezilla...I haven't asked the bridal party partly because I have a whole elaborate way of asking them and partly because I know they are scared of bridezilla...i don't know you and I love you...I am picking out my cake too...meanwhile I don't know/care what I am wearing to my nephew's first birthday tomorrow!
ETA: I watch the Ace of Cakes...and think 'I deserve a cake like that'

Re: RH Cakes
Oh my god Kristin I love you too!!! My friends at work want to call the show bridezillas for me. Please I plan to have everything booked by the end of the month. I even cried tonight be FH didn't want to do guest list (even though i secretly did it the other day without him). you are crazy having a RH booked before you were engaged but I basically had an idea of all my vendors and everything before I was engaged - that is because I have been begging to get engaged since November!! I already have my bridesmaids dresses picked out and my stripper picked out for my bachelorette party. I am PSYCHO. I even opened a seperate savings account and started saving for my wedding before I was engaged! I think I need help!!!!

Re: RH Cakes
talk with ur RH....even if u don't get their in-house cakes, if they work with a bakery sometimes they will cover up to a certain cost, and then u have to pay the rest.

Re: RH Cakes
If you don't use their cake ... then I would think that they should apply that money someplace else at your reception !
