can you please recommend a reception hall that does not require a guarantee of 200 people for a Saturday night.. my BM just got engaged and is looking for a Oct, 2013 wedding for about 150 people and shes not having a lot of luck.

Lombardi's on the Sound in Port Jefferson. We had to guarantee 150 for a Saturday night in the summer.

East wind! I am getting married there nov 2 2013
they have a few different rooms/buildings with different numbers
the veranda room where i am getting married is a 125 gaurantee on a sat night and holds i think 190
And SO affordable!

Swan Club Venetian Yacht Club - I'm not positive on this one what the requirement would be....depends on time of year.... Beach Club Estate Windows on the lake....I'm not 100% sure on this one ...depends on time but I think 150 shud be fine....

We are likely booking with de Severksy Mansion at NYIT for April 2013. We had the same issue when looking for venues. de Seversky's minimum is 125 for April and their ballroom holds a maximum of 150 people so I presume they won't require a min. above that.
The price per person is a bit on the high side though. Feel free to FM me for the package prices we received.

I would check out Larkfield Manor. Our minimum was 150 people exact. They are really nice there, plus we got a great price for booking in advance! HTH

This was a problem I was having also. Watermill in Smithtown. I have a 150 min for a Saturday night in August.

She may have to change her month. I chose March 2013 and only have to guarantee 150 on a Saturday for East Wind. October is a busier month, she may have better luck looking at November. I was told November-April are the quieter months so you have more flexibility.

Try Jericho Terrace (they have a small room specific for this) and Swan Club, or Verdi's. My sister had a wedding there on A Saturdaya nd only had 100 people. HTH
