so I have a friend from high school that was recently engaged. She's looking for a rustic country type of place for her RH.
any suggestions. I don't know how many guests or what her $/pp is, she seems open to anything.
I suggested the vineyards (raphael's to be exact) but she said they are too tuscan (and their charges are far too much)
I also suggested douglaston manor, she's checking them out now.
So any other suggestions girls? TIA!

Re: RH help- looking for a friend
baiting hollow winery does smaller parties (i was looking there for my shower). and they are more of a farm, they actually have rescued old race horses that they save on the property.
hope this helps. cant think of much more (and i have been to over 30 RHs)

Tell her to check out the Riviera. It has a very rustic feel to it, it's right on the water, has a beautiful garden and lots of on site locations to take pictures and they are very reasonably priced.

I wanted something similar, but its pretty hard to find on long island! Try Hallockville Farms, they have a big barn that they open up for events and you can tent it. Its really pretty, but the only downside is that there are no bathrooms on site so you would have to rent them. And you would bring in outside catering and do all the work yourself or hire a planner/decorator. Also, its not a barn, but Old Field Club is a beautiful space with a rustic feel to it. I loved it there, but it was too far out for my guests. I ended up going with the Riviera myself. Not exactly what I wanted, but as close as I could find that would be convenient.
what about the queens farm in little neck??? the knot did a profile of a wedding there. she would have to bring in a tent and caterers, but its certainly rustic.
there is also a farm out east - i don't remember the name.
maybe she should look in westchester or even parts of jersey for a more 'rustic' feel????

I recommend the Old Field Club or the Riviera. I have pics of Old Field Club in my album.

I just went to a wedding there this weekend! You can get married in the pavilion and have the reception for about 100-130 people in the barn. It was so much fun! Petting the animals, playing horseshoes. Their 'theme' was kind of rustic vintage paper patters in blue green and gold. So pretty!

Is she willing to have it up state? Because then I would suggestion Bear Mountain Inn - FH and I went to check it out and it's gorgeous and the view is BREATHTAKING but it just wasn't the style that we were going for.

I was also going to suggest this! I think a bride here on LIW had her wedding there too at some point (feel like I read a review ages ago) but I could be lying.
Driftwood Farms in Orient looks really really beautiful. It was just too far out east for us to expect guests to travel.

For a rustic feel, I would say Fox Hollow or Westbury Manor.

Driftowood farms is beautiful but has a high sight fee, plus rentals of everything. I know of someone who has gotten married at Hallockville Farms as well as Martha Clara.
