RH Negotiation / Add On

RH Negotiation / Add On

I have absolutely no experience with wedding planning but we finally got to a point of deciding on our RH & a date, so huge accomplishment for us

I think we can manage with the negotiation part but definitely can use any advies you have. I have read posts where people mentioned 'add on' when signing contracts, how do you even go about that & what are typical 'add on'? We're interested in Lands End so if anyone has experience with LE, I would love to hear your personal thoughts or if not, advices in general would be very helpful to this lost couple..haha

Thanks for all your help!!

Re: RH Negotiation / Add Ins

we tried to negotiate with Land's End but they said the price was firm.

as far asking for add ins

we just flat out asked
or we said X place is giving us A B and C, can you match it?

we got

two extra CH stations

extra passed appetizers

a platter of cookies on every table at dessert

a dessert station

and asked for them to waive ceremony fee

thats all i can remember...just figure out the things you and FH want and flat out ask for them, it cant hurt!
and it cant hurt to ask them to lower the price per person, we got our per person price lowered too!

HTH!

hmmm add ins are things like adding a seafood bar, or wine on tables, upgrading you to premium liquor, or even adding a viennese hour. Sometimes add-ons that they'll throw in is an extra station at cocktail hour or a hospitality hour when your guests arrive...

you should try to see what else they can add on if there is something you really want.

Thanks, LoveyDovey, extremely helpful !! I can't believe they were willing to throw all those on even after you were able to bring the price per person down. How much were you able to bring it down?

ahhh..... makes perfect sense with the 'add on' & 'add in' difference, SandyBeaches. Thanks for the clarification.

Re: RH Negotiation / Add On

Honestly when dealing with our RH they kinda just offered up the adds on each time we went. I had mentioned to them how we would love to have the Champagne greeting cart for our guests when they arrive and the guy just added it in our contract for nothing and then threw in a Chocolate Fountain on top of it for free (and that's not a cheap add on!).

My philosphy is, 'it never hurts to ask'. Make them see how much you would really like to have something but you just can't seem to fit it in the budget and they may throw it in for yah.

Re: RH Negotiation / Add On

Is the 'Add On' conversation usually done during the contract signing or is there opportunity even after the contract signing?

Re: RH Negotiation / Add On

Since we chose a buffet that wasn't necessarily set for a wedding, they added in a Wedding Cake and a sundae bar for no extra price.

We also added 2 stations for the price of one.

usually before the signing of the contract as you want to make sure that everything they promise is included in writing.

Its always easier for a hall to add on then it is for them to drop the price. there is no harm in asking what they can do for you, and once you sign the contract they have no reason to negotiate with you as you are already locked in to have your wedding there.

Re: RH Negotiation / Add On

We have tried & failed..lol. Lands End doesn't seem like they do any free add ons & we tried to ask that the minimum guarantee be decreased & only got the price per person to increase instead with that route...sigh no luck. Maybe Lands End doesn't do add on or maybe we're horrible at this negotiation thing..lol
