RH so close to booking help!

Original post by CaseyCase

I am in love with CLM and I've known for a while that it would be our top choice. However we have to be very cost conscious for ours and our parents sake, we don't want to break the bank. On Wednesday we are going to a food tasting and I would like to book asap but I want to get what I want and I have to stay within budget.

I am inviting 200 guests on a Sunday afternoon in October. There are only 2 (or 3!) extras that I really want from them. FH and I are totally desert people and really want the chocolate fountain and ice cream bar and MAYBE cheesecake station. However, we can't afford to add $15 extra pp! I think thats crazy! Also, we are not big on cake (every time i go to a wedding I see people put it aside anyway!) and I have 3 close friends that have gone to school for baking and I was hoping to have them make a small and simple cake instead. I'm wondering do you think they will allow this? Will they work with me about the desert thing? Has anyone ever gotten something 'thrown in' from CLM?

Our second choice is The Riviera although I feel it is too small. But I've heard from a few people that they 'throw things in'? AND they're less per person (by $5) to begin with but they aren't my top choice :o(

How much do you think halls cost at the bottom line (after tax & grat.)? Help girls I'm sooo worried!! How do/did you negotiate? TIA!!!

you are not asking for a lot of extra stuff at all. if you play your cards right they should throw it in no problem. just don't seem so eager to book. you are booking really far in advance so they won't be in a rush to book your date... this means you lose some bargaining power. but a 200 person party on a sunday is still good for them and they should be willing to give you some stuff...

if you have folders, etc. from other places you've looked at i suggest carrying them with you when you sit down to bargain. even if you're not really interested in those places, pretend. i agree with whoever said to tell them the other places you are considering threw in/already included the stuff you asked for- THIS WORKS. act like you're equally considering all of the places and the deciding factor is going to be how many extras you can get for your money. if you've given off the impression that you already decided on CLM then what is their incentive to bargain with you?

We are getting married at CLM, on a Saturday night in November. We are inviting 250, we have a 150 min for the Atrium room. We also booked 3 of their house vendors (Photo, Video, & DJ) this entitles us to a 'free' Chocolate fountain. We are taking the wedding cake they include, they also offer fresh fruit OR pastries served to the tables family style. Our guest will each get a cupcake from CRUMBS as their wedding favor (we contacted Crumbs, and they are within our budget for favors). HTH
