RH suggestions?!

HELP!!

My fiance and I have been to what feels like a hundred places, looking for somewhere with that WOW factor we've been looking for. We have seen a few places we've liked, but nothing we've loved. As of now, the places we liked best were Flowerfield and Land's End.

Ok, here's what we are looking for:

Somewhere that only does one or two affairs at a time. An outdoor ceremony area, something with lots of greenery or a beach. An area to have an outdoor cocktail area, or at least the option to come outdoors during cocktail hour, even if the food isn't outside. We'd prefer the outdoor area to not be close to a main road. A grand ballroom, with high ceilings and lots of windows. Maybe something with a more vintage feel. We'd like an oversized dance floor, with a designated area for the band. We are having about 200 people, and a lot of the places we looked at seemed tight, without people even being in the room!

So far, we've looked at:
Coral House, Watermill, Bourne Mansion, Land's End, Flowerfield, Old Field House, Stewart Manor, Seacliff Manor, Crescent Beach Club, The Palm House at Brooklyn Botanical Gardens, De Seversky, The Hamlet, Thatched Cottage, Riviera and Smithtown Landing Country Club.

I don't even think that's all of them. LOL

If you're still reading this, it probably means you had just as much trouble finding a venue. We are wondering if anyone out there has any suggestions that are worth checking out. We're tired of driving all over Long Island (we live in Queens) to find that we come home as deflated as the time before. None of our friends are engaged or even close to looking for this type of thing, so we really have no one we know to go to for advice.

Please suggest your venue or a venue you saw and loved, and include quotes if you have them?!?! We're about 3 atrocious venues away from getting married at Chuck E Cheese. We would really appreciate your help!!!

Try maybe Chateau La Mer or Venetian Yacht Club. They both do 2 weddings at a time and the bigger rooms might have the big dance floor you want. Both also do partial outdoor cocktail hour, I think.

Not sure how either place held up during Sandy, so def call ahead to find out. Good luck!

The Inn at New Hyde Park. If you have time, just take a look. I swore I would never have my wedding on a main road, and you wouldn't even know it's on Jericho Turnpike when you're inside or in the courtyard. So beautiful! The ballroom is enormous, it holds up to 450. The dance floor is very large, it's perfectly laid out and has a beautiful bar on either side of the room. It's definitely worth the trip! :)

Good luck!

It's tough to find everything... The Woodlands had a formal ballroom and lot of greenery. Not on a main road, it is tucked away on the Town of Oyster Bay golf course so its a pretty scenic drive up to the place. The are one wedding only too.

If you dont mind the main road, try Inn at NHP or Sand Castle, both one wedding at a time with very large ballrooms. I am not thrilled with the main road idea, but SC has some outdoor space and is nice and new inside. Goodluck!

You could always try some places in New Rochelle too. There are a lot of venues on the water over there.

You described the venetian yacht club to almost perfectly in the description. However, it was very badly damaged in the hurricane, so it will be a while before it is up and running again. I know they are doing their best to do it quickly. In the meantime, check out their website. http://www.venetianyachtclub.com/

Re: RH suggestions?!

I'd love any quotes you have!! Just send it through forum mail if that's easier thanks!!

Thatched cottage we were quoted $75 for may and $85 for June. The BM we met with was just wonderful, and even sent us a thank you note and included my cousin in it (she came to look with us)!! Very personable!!

I was quoted $150 at Bourne and we actually hated the BM. She was condescending and made us feel like we weren't good enough to have the honor of having our wedding there.

I will check all the suggestions you guys have!! Thanks! Keep Em coming!

I agree with this! Going into it I was against having it on a main road, but I went to look at NHP Inn and Floral Terrace and both are absolutely beautiful!! I ended up booking with Floral Terrace because I was seriously floored when I walked into the Ballroom - it's so unique, and they offered me an amazing deal that I definitely wasn't going to get anywhere else. You really do forget that it's on a main road once you walk in, and the only reason I wanted an outdoor area was for pictures, which I'm doing somewhere else. I just figured that I don't know what the weather will be or if I'd even be able to utizilize an outdoor area so it wasn't a priority for me. I think both places are one event at a time, and I thought that was much more important.

Hope that helps, good look finding your hall! Let me know if you have any other questions!

Try Carlyle on the Green. The Place is amazing. It is one wedding at a time; beautiful ceremony space outdoor cocktail hour if you want and they sit on the bethpage black golfcourse which housed the U.S. open recently.

Once I went there I stopped looking right away!

Goodluck :)

I would definitely check out Carlyle on the Green. We were very impressed by the beautiful grounds and the outdoor area for cocktail area. The reception room is very large with lots of windows and a large dance floor.

I suggest checking out Giorgio's. We had similar requirements and looked at many of the same venues. Giorgio's has indoor/outdoor cocktail hour, beautiful large windowed ballroom that can easily handle 200, spot for entertainment and beautiful outdoor options for ceremony. It's far, but worth the trip from Queens, I think. You might also want to check out East Wind.
