RH Tipping

RH Tipping

Our RH contract states the price is...

XX per person + 18% gratuity + tax.

1) Is the tax calculated on the gratuity plus the per person cost? This doesn't seem right.

2) What is the tax percent in Nassau? Is it the same as when you buy clothes and stuff? I think it is 8.25%?

3) If we are paying 18% gratuity, do we have to pay any additional gratuity? I think 18% is enough.

TIA

1. Yes, tax is calculated on the ppp + gratuity price. NYS sees it as a 'service charge' and not gratuity, so it's subject to tax. Stinks, but it's that way everywhere.

2. Sales tax is 8.625% in Nassau Co.

3. The only other gratuity you might pay is for the maitre'd and sometimes the bar tender. (We only had to tip the maitre'd). If you have a bridal attendant, rest room attendant, etc., you may tip him or her as well. You don't need to tip the waitstaff anything additional.
