FH and I went to see Villa L o m b a r d i s last weekened and when we got there they informed us that we could not see any of the rooms because their was an all day Cancer event going on! It is so hard for us to make day to see hall and I was so upset with this! The event was just starting when we arrived, it was over 1000 people in casual clothing, they so could have walked us through the rooms. Nobody would have even know. They refused to let us see the rooms though and they said 'I hope this won't be a problem' Well it was, I can't book a hall I never got to see!...then the valet lost our car for 30mins and made us late to out next appt!

Its weird bc usually they could at least let you peak in. When i first went to look at JT there was an event. They opened the door so i could peak, but i also said i didnt want to walk in but it was a wedding and we were dressed casually. But who knows maybe they have policies about this, sorry you had to deal with that. If you do REALLY love the place, definitely go back to check the rooms when there isn't an event going on.
But the whole losing your car for 30 mins would have me concerned. You cant always trust valet guys and that is just not right. Definitely call to tell them about this problem regardless if you go back there or not.

That sounds ridiculous...especially if you had an appointment...and everyone was in regular clothes! I wouldnt want to book with a place that was so un-accomodating. Where else did you look? What places are you considering?

ITA its ridiculous that you had an appointment and they did that to you. how stupid can they be? I'd be totally turned off if i was you, and politely call them and tell them so. If that's how they treat potential clients, how do they treat you once you've already booked!?

I went to the Millridge with an appointment and the woman was so rude to us. She acted as if we were inconveniencing her. She didnt want to answer any questions. I left and didnt look back. I want to go somewhere that cares about me and their business. Giorgio's spent more than 5 hrs with us on separate occasions before I booked...never once acting as if we were bothering them. Keep in mind you are sitting down with the owner -- who truly cares about his buisness-- so in turn will truly care about your wedding. If you havent looked there...you really should. From what I have been told from past brides...the service is unmatched and the food is incredible. We did a tasting before booking and my mother was even raving about a salad...and she hates salad!

You have to feel comfortable at the place you are booking ! When we went to Majestic Gardens they were so nice to us. We were able to peek into the Ballroom when a wedding was going on .... only thru the glass...but we got to see the whole setup of the hall !!!!!!!!

The only consolation I can provide is that if they're that adamant and closed off with letting you in to see the rooms while another event is going on, hopefully they'd be that same way when your wedding is going on.
When my sister was planning her wedding years ago, one of the places that she and BIL went to look at almost took them into some else's cocktail hour to sample the food. She said no, and they didn't go with that place That turned her off, b/c she thought if they did that to someone else's wedding, they'd probably bring strangers into hers.
I know you were just going to look at the rooms, that's all, bu when I saw your post, this is what I thought of. Maybe it's the reason why they didn't let you even look in.
I agree with the other posters, that you want to find a place that makes you feel like they truly care about your business, rather than shrugging it off like you're bothering or inconveniencing them.
ETA: We booked at Fox Hollow, and come to think of it, there was a wedding going on at the time, and they took us to look at the other rooms so we waited until our ceremony room was cleared out before they allowed us in to look at it.
