Ribbon pull charms for BM's

Ribbon pull charms for BM's

The other day I got a set of ribbon pull charms to put in a cake for my BM's. Each one will pull a ribbon and attached is a charm hidden in the cake which tells their fortune (happy home, next to get married, will have great wealth, etc.) In the set is 6 charms and one keepsake for me (a wedding cake). I have 6 BM but I wanted to have a charm for my reader to pull. She is a very good friend of mine and she would be a BM also but she said that she wouldn't feel comfortable in a BM dress and wanted to do a reading instead. Do you think it would be dumb if I put all seven charms in the cake and give a gift to the one who pulls out the wedding cake? I was thinking of a nice picture frame with something engraved on it (maybe 'Friendship'??) so that I could give them a nice picture of the two of us on the wedding day.
What do you ladies think...is this a dumb idea?
Here is what the charms look like (one, the ring, is hidden by the ribbon)...

These are ADORABLE - where did you get them?!?! And what is a Bridesmaid Cake? When do you do that? I love the idea of a gift for the one that gets the cake.

Re: Ribbon pull charms for BM's

I got them on ebay. When I read about the charms it said that some people put them in the wedding cake and have the BM pull them at the reception and others have a special cake durring a shower or BM lunch. I'm not sure yet when I'm going to do it...because I live in FL and they are all scattered about (NY, NJ, FL, and PA) I was thinking about doing it when I go to PA in July to visit my BM's. I know they are planning my bridal shower and possibly a bachlorette party so I wanted to do something special for them too....but I don't know if they are all going to be there (I'm not sure if my cousin from NY and my BM from FL will make it) but I don't think I want to do it at the reception (too much already going on, pluss I think it would be weird having everyone watching).
If they are all not there in PA do you think it would be ok to call them on the phone and have someone pull the charm for them

Debbie, what a great idea. I guess with everything else to think about sometimes I forget about an obvious solution...I think I will do it either that day or maybe at the rehersal dinner the night before.
Oh, I feel much better now Thanks!

I think this custom is very cute. I am hosting a BM tea. Perhaps you could do something with just your girls and have them pull the charms then. Maybe they could each have their charm pinned to their flowers the day of the wedding.

We did when I got married.
We had a BM luncheon the day before the wedding. I made a cake (I did it as a bundt cake so the charms could just sit in the center), and each pulled the ribbon charm. It was fun and the girls really got a kick out of it.
