Don't think so either. My sister loves her rice cooker. Seems really big to just make rice, but maybe I'm missing something

Re: rice cookers?
I am so torn about this. I have one on my registry but I am thinking of taking it off because it's $50. Everyone makes fun of me and tells me to cook rice in a normal pot, but I have heard from this site that it is a godsend. Help!

Re: rice cookers?
im not sure about the initial question- sorry...but i wanted to say that i love my rice cooker/veggie steamer. fh got it as a gift from his friend (i thought weird at first, lol) and espeically cuz i dont cook rice much either but its soooo helpful and cooks everything really fast, the veggies are so soft and healthy when they are done.
I have a proctor silex one - does the job but I'd get something a little better if you are dying for one. I thought it sounded crazy at first too but I use mine all the time - whats great is I cook rice&beans with onions - just throw everything in their and you are all set 25 min later you have a meal...
