3 MEN GO INTO A MOTEL. THE MAN BEHIND THE DESK SAID THE ROOM IS $30, SO EACH MAN PAID $10 AND WENT TO THE ROOM. A WHILE LATER THE MAN BEHIND THE DESK REALIZED THE ROOM WAS ONLY $25, SO HE SENT THE BELLBOY TO THE 3 GUYS' ROOM WITH $5. ON THE WAY THE BELLBOY COULDN'T FIGURE OUT HOW TO SPLIT $5 EVENLY BETWEEN 3 MEN, SO HE GAVE EACH MAN A $1 AND KEPT THE OTHER $2 FOR HIMSELF. THIS MEANT THAT THE 3 MEN EACH PAID $9 FOR THE ROOM, WHICH IS A TOTAL OF $27, ADD THE $2 THAT THE BELLBOY KEPT = $29.
WHERE IS THE OTHER DOLLAR?

If the Bellboy gave back $1 each, that would bring the total 28 (not 27) and the other 2 went to himself equaling 30

ahhhhhh i got it---i think---the men really didnt pay 9 dollars each cause the room was 25. so 25 divides by 3 + 1 dollar from the bellboy gives you almost 28 (on a calcualtor) and then 2 bucks for the bellboy. did i get it? im confused

Right, but if they each originally paid $10 and each got $1 back, then they only paid $9 each.
9 X 3 = 27 + the $2 the guy kept = 29. Where's the other dollar?

WELL first of all the man behind the desk gave back just a little too much money...if the room is $25 and there's three of them then the room wouldn't be $9 each bc 9x3=27 and well the room is not $27. The room would come out to $8.33 per person
so he gave each guy .27 cents too much and that would equal .81 cents not a dollar though
but if the guy behind the desk physically handed the bell boy $5 then thats the part i dont understand unless the bellboy realized this and returned $1 back to the man behind the desk so my answer is it went back to him.
