Ridiculous...

Ridiculous...

Ridiculous question but I have to ask...

Concerning the length of the wedding dress (floor length)....

I'm concerned about tripping over the wedding dress as I'm walking or trying to go up or down stairs.......

Is this far-fetched??

Do the tailors make necessary alterations to the dress so this doesn't happen?

Is the dress hard to walk in?... i don't want to have to hold the dress up every time i move around...

I haven't gone for a fitting or even dress shopping yet so I don't know what to expect... Am I hyperventilating for no reason?

Thanks!

Breathe dear.
If it's a-line, ball gown, princess, or something else with volume, it's going to be well in front of your foot anyway.
However, if you want the dress an inch off the ground, just tell them and they'll hem it where you want it.

My only tip is buy the shoes before you get the alterations. My sister and a friend used shoes from the bridal place during the alterations and later bought other shoes.

Well the heels happened to be lower than what they used during the alterations and the dress ended up being too long and they did have to pull it every time they walked.

So you will be fine as long as you use shoes that have the heel the same height as you did on the day they altered the dress.

My advise after seeing several brides is to go shorter than longer. It's usually 1-1.5 inches off the floor. If you get it too long, you WILL trip when walking, dancing, etc..

People doing alterations usually do a good job. They know what to do.

I also thought about this because I have been trying on sheath dresses. They can alter to where you like, but if it hits the floor right past your shoes you should be fine when walking. Try on dresses with a pair of heels and walk around the store.

The bridal shop that I ordered my dress from told me to get my shoes and undergarments before I go for alterations. They should definetly be able to hem the dress at a perfect length for you.
