i need to get my ring appraised and i'm looking for a place to go in midtown east or the upper east side if possible. i also need to get the setting checked b/c i think the stone is loose. does anyone have any suggestions? thanks!!!!

i dont know where to tell you since i dont live in the city...but go get it checked ASAP....right after i got engaged...my stone was loose, i touched it and IT FELL OUT!! i brought it back to baily banks and biddle, they were MORTIFIED!!!

It's not east midtown, but I know the Macy's in Herald Square does ring appraisals.

You should really go to an independent appraiser, not a store if you are doing it for insurance purposes. I do not know any place in NYC, but I used the jewelry Judge in Garden City. They were very professional and thorough & made sure I understood why the ring appraised at the $$$ it did.

Maybe if you asked your insurance agency, (if you have car insurance or whatever) if they insure jewelry, and if they know of someone who could appraise it.
