Ring appraisal

Did you take the appraisal your jeweler gave you at face value and mail that to the insurance company, or did you have an independent party appraise your ring?
Just curious.

I had an independent party appriase my ring as well. Came out to a little more than face value from the place FH got it from.

The jeweler my FH got my ring from did my appraisal. Its 10K more than he paid!

FH had an independent appraisal done - it came out way higher than what he paid for it and the appraisal the diamond dealer gave him

My jewler did my appraisal in front on me and did at retail value, which was like double what FH paid for it.. then I took it to our insurance woman who took care of the rest

We had an independant appraisal done. We went to the Jewelry Judge in Garden City, he's great! FM me if you want his info.

Independent appraiser. We actually had it appraised before we purchased it to make sure the price was a good deal.

Thanks girls. Yeah our jeweler appraised it , but I figure it would benefit him to give a high appraisal, so I was thinking of going to an independent appraisal to double check.

i would absolutely have a third party do the appraisal - i would not trust the jeweler with something like that b/c like someone said it would benefit them to give you a high appraisal especially if they ripped you off on the price.....

we took mine to macys - we were so nervous DH was so afraid that he overpaid for my ring - but he didn't - and it appraised for more than what he paid - he felt a lot better knowing that the jeweler did good by him....

I haven't gotten mine appraised yet b/c I didn't know where to go. I def did not want to have it appraised where he bought it.

So what happens if its appraised for LESS than what he paid?
