Ring Bearer

Ring Bearer

Okay so my ring bearer is a little young, he will be 3 in April. His mom asked me last night if there was someone else who could fill in for him because she doesn't think he will be mature enough to handle being in the wedding party and she's afraid he might ruin the wedding (he's been throwing a lot of tantrums lately). I'm willing to take the risk, but I think it has her stressed out so I am also cool with letting him back out. I have two other options for a ring bearer: #1 my cousin who is 8 and I think may look too old to be a ring bearer (he's very tall) OR #2 have a girl ring bearer which would be my niece who is 2 and completely adorable OR #3 don't have a ring bearer. I kind of want one bcz my grandmother sewed me a ring pillow and it is kind of sentimental to me that I use it in my wedding. What do you think I should do???
ps. My flowergirl is 6 and might get a little jealous of the other little girl....

I think you should still have him. He will most likely be fine walking down the aisle. Have him and the flower girl walk down together or you could always ask one of your BM's to walk him down if he gets upset. It usually works out....sometimes its even cute when they do silly things.

i say keep him... he wont ruin a thing... no matter how he acts it will be cute cause he's 3... i am looking fwd to my nieces possible antics when she walks down as flower girl.. she is 6.. but i can see her throwing petals in the air and dancing .. she is the biggest ham.. my nephew will be our ring bearer he would have just turned 9... my brother was a ring bearer at age 11..

You can keep him and maybe have someone pull him down the asile in a wagon decorated with tulle? I might have FH SIL wheel their nephew in the carriage down the asile like that if he's quiet...put the pillow on the top of the stroller and decorate it! We have to talk to the Pastor tho...if he's having a very bad day you can always opt to take him out last min...the kids add nice touches but can also really make scenes so it's up to you-I've heard good and bad stories- I like the one bride whos FG may dance down the asile or something silly- those types of antics are great!

One of my ring bearers will be just under 3 and so will my flower girl. It's a 130 foot aisle. Things will get crazy and I don't care. I figure we all need a little laughter. But my friends call me the laid back bride. DO WHAT YOU WANT!!!!!!

MY FG is 4 and my RG will just be 3. I say keep him in it.. if he makes it down the aisle, awesome! If not... who cares! Hopefully he'll atleast sit for some pictures.

Re: Ring Bearer

I would keep your RB that you have...My FG will be turning 3 the day of the wedding...I know there is a chance she might not make it down the aisle & that is fine! When they are that age, you take the chance but they are just too cute !!!

Just keep him - on the videos its so cute when they start crying - maybe I'm heartless, but you just say - awwww...

My ring bearer has autism - and even though his mom keeps asking me if I'm sure, if I want to change my mind its ok, I tell her - there is NO way I'm changing my mind. I don't care what happens - I love him and want him there for my special day!

I may be biased but I understand how you may not want to stress your RB's Mom out. Why don't you tell her you will play it by ear and see how he adjusts to his new I think now is not a good time to make this decision b/c he may be reacting to the new addition.

I think KarAnthony is right. His mom is slightly stressed cuz she just had a baby girl. Maybe I will give it a week or so and let her adjust and then revisit the conversation.

Re: Ring Bearer

I had a problem with my ring bearer situation as well...My FG is my god daughter who will be 5. I have a first cousin who will be 8 and I wanted to include him, but thougth it would be awkward as well. I also have second cousins who are the same age as the FG, but felt I couldn't pass over my first. Basically after a lot of debating I went with the 8 year old. It may not look perfect, but he is family and I am happy to have chosen him. My aunt was so happy also! I also thought about not having one, but knew I did not want to do that! Ultimately it's up to you! Good Luck!

Still have him..... you still have a ways until your wedding.

P.s. 8 isn't too old for a ring bearer (mine is going to be 10

We're not having one. The Best Man will hold the rings.

We didn't want any children at the wedding so it was easy for us.

I think you should wait and see in a month or so how his mom feels.

my RB is 3 also, and i'm not worried about him at all. in fact, ever since i asked him, he has been practicing my walking around the house holding pillows!! but if his mom is still concerned, maybe you could have two RB's...the 8 year old and him. maybe his mom will feel better if he walked down the aisle with an older boy to keep him in check instead of alone. good luck!
