Re: ring cleaning
I live in the western part of nassau and have a professional jewlery cleaning but, I charge I would go back to the place where he got the ring

Re: ring cleaning
before our engagement party i brought my engagement ring into a jewlery store by my house and i watched them steam it clean! ps they didnt charge me and i dont know if thats normal or not! also i found that putting into a glass with warm water and dishwashing liquid works nice too ... i take a little toothbrush (that im not using haha) and clean it myself.

you can also boil it in detergent ... i do that every once n a while... but i do find that the jewelry cleaner they give you works just fine

I think you can bring it to any jewler but I don't know if they charge or how much it will be. I guess just walk in and ask.

you can go to any jeweler. Where did you get it? They usually do free cleanings for the first year
any jewelry willdo a quick steam cleaning for free...it takes 2 seconds..if they charge you thats ridiculous! i actually went and bought my own because now that I have some bling i am obsessed with keeping it sparkling...i found one online for $50..works like a charm!

Re: ring cleaning
What about the little jars of solution you can buy at Target or Walmart? Is that a no-no?

I hope not bc that's what I've been using. FH makes fun of me, he's like 'you haven't cleaned your ring in 2 hours, you better go do it!' It seems to work pretty good. I also heard ammonia and water. But these ladies are right, just take it to any local jeweler and ask them to clean it, they should do it no charge.

Honestly you can go anywhere & some places charge just make sure it never is out of your sight. You want to watch them. Since your jewler is in Manhattan i dont think u much of a choice unless you clean t yourself. I have one of those vibrating cleaners & the reg. kind. Also using warm water & windex in a cup cover withtin foil for an hour will work nicely as well.

OMG be careful fh got me one of those 'Professional' cleaners for christmas...and paid an arm and a leg... and last week I went to the jewlers and I said how I use that to clean the ring etc and he said 'You really shouldn't use that. Its vibration is carried through the ring's metal itself. A real jewler wouldn't use that on a diamond ring either for fear that over time the prongs would become loose from the metal itself...' I almost pooped myself.... just be careful. He told me to just use a childs toothbrush, with baking soda and water and boy does it sparkle lol
your going to think im nuts but i take a soft tooth brush and scrub it a little with a mild liquid soap then let it sit in an espresso cup with hot water (with the suds from scrubbing it) and after 2 minutes i clean it off with the steamer from the espresso machine it works great!

Re: ring cleaning
I actually soacked mine in peroxide... came out looking brand new! Then I just used a q-tip to clean the hard to reach items. People at work even noticed it had a bit more 'bling' to it! HA. And, it's not bad for your ring. :)

I actuallyheard that. I had my prongs checked because i have an open beaded set with alot of diamonds set in them so i had it checked i use it once in awhile very once in awhile. I usually use the small brush & the jewlery cleaner. My sister always uses baking soda i tried that too. Iguess its whatever is close to me atthe moment. hahaha but i love getting it steamed cleaned from the jewler which be careful can also loosen your diamonds.
Thanks Jenny you are so super cute & helpful always.

Re: ring cleaning
I take my back to the jeweler. But if you can't I would call them to see if they can give you a trusted suggestion somewhere on Long Island.

Re: ring cleaning
The directions that came with my ring say to soak it in a 1:6 dilution of ammonia in water. I then scrub it a bit with a tooth brush and it looks like new. I also took it to a local jeweler and they cleaned it for me for free but she told me that following the directions above work just fine.
