I am curious to know how many of you girls got your e-rings either resized or had a guard put on?
We just got engaged and my ring is a little big. I am normally a 5 1/2 (which allows a lil room incase I swell) he said this is the right size but it's sliding all over the place. I know it's colder now and all but I don't want it to fall off.
I am thinking of just getting a guard, that way if I swell in the summer I can just take it off.
Has anyone done this? If so how much did it cost and where did you go? I am petrified that a jeweler might try to do the switcharoo on me?

get a guard...so that in the summer it won't be too tight....
and your ring should have a number lazered into the diamond...so they won't be able to switch it....

I just got a guard on my ring for the same problem...that way if it has to be taken off it wll be quick and easy. We took it back to the jeweler that my FH got the ring at. If you are nervous, they can take the stone out in front of you and just bring the band back to put the guard on it.

Re: Ring Guards or Resizing?
my ring was too small when i got it--and we took it back to the jeweler--and within 20 min. he resized it for free.
when we went to pick up FH's wedding band--it was WAAAY too loose. again, the jeweler took it--and less than 10 min., he sized it down a little--and it was perfect.
i don't like the idea of having to put a guard in--but that's just me. i'd see if the jeweler could re-size it, if it's really loose

Instead of getting it re-sized I got the balls that go inside the band itself. Eventually when you get pregnant or if you gain weight you can get them taken off. If you're worried about the switch-a-roo, then watch them put it on/stand there while he/her is doing it. I walked right into the back part of the jeweler and watched them closely like a hawk!

Re: Ring Guards or Resizing?
Ive had my ring for 9 months now and still use a little plastic guard I bought at Claire's for $2 Im scared to have it re-sized for some reason.
I plan on buying a wedding band that fits perfectly and putting it in front of the engagement ring when Im married to hold it on

I had mine resized at the place my FH got my ring from. I was able to watch them do it.

Re: Ring Guards or Resizing?
My finger itself is 4 1/4 but the ring is sized to a 4.5 to get over my knuckle-we flattened the bottom of the band to make it a touch smaller, and it helped alot

Re: Ring Guards or Resizing?
I got these 2 little balls put on the inside rim of my ring. They are supposed to make the ring a little smaller and stop it from spinning.

Re: Ring Guards or Resizing?
Thanks girls, This helped out A LOT. I ended up getting a guard put on but the lady at the jewelry store said it's just a 'temporary' fix and also may scratch my ring.
Eventually I will have to get it sized. I am a 5.25 but I usually go with a 5.5 (just for a little room for swelling. She measured it and said it's a 6. THere is no way i will swell that much, so as soon as we get back from the bahamas next week I willhave him take it to the jewelers and have it sized correctly.
Thanks a bunch though!

I am getting the balls put in tonight. I thought about the guard but I don't want anything scratching my ring!

I've been looking for a plastic ring guard for a long time! I'm going to get to Claire's this week and buy one. I think this would be the safest bet if your ring is the right size and its just feeling loose. If you resize it, it may be too small to wear in the summer or if you gain weight.
