OMG, my ring fell into a sink and almost went down the drain. I was freaking out; one of the most scariest things a bride to be could experience. I didn't know what to do; THANK GOD it got stuck on it's way down the hole (it was not open all the way) in the sink and I could take it out. I will never wash my hands with my ring on ever again. I will always put it in my pocket or purse from now on.
FH was calm about it, but I got all sad about how stupid I was to let it happen. I don't even know how it did; all I know is that I saw it falling and I started to hyperventilate. Then I calmed myself down and slowly pulled it out.
FH started telling me about worse case scenarios, that didn't make me feel any better. I was quiet all the way home.
Just thought I would share my horror story with you ladies and hope this never happens to you. I always wondered what I would do if that ever happened and now I know.

Re: Ring incident
I can totally relate. I left my engagement ring before our wedding at the dentist office. Thank god, this elderly guy asked me if it was something valuable that belonged to me. I turned around slowly like a rabbit that was hunted for food. Thank god for that guy! DH would had went nuts. Almost three months salary went into the ring. I'm scared to wear expensive things b/c I'm so clumsy, I always forget stuff.

Make sure you get insurance if you do not already have it.

Yep, FH got it insured. I guess that's why he was more calm than I was.

Re: Ring incident
Wow that is pretty scarey. It almost happened to me too. I was taking it off over the sink (worst thing to do) and it fell and somehow I caught it with my hand.
Its like you get such a bad pit in your stomach.
Glad you're ring is ok though!

Re: Ring incident
i know ive had a few close calls but i wouldnt worry too much because sinks have traps that catch big things so they dont clog the pipes. you would just need someone handy to take apart the pipe below the sink.

Re: Ring incident
That is scary. My friend used to take her ring off whenever she washed her hands. One day she realized she left it at work in the ladies room...we worked in a big building. About an hour later, she returned and luckily it was still there. She never took it off again... she now gets it cleaned often though.

Re: Ring incident
I know someone who who always took off her rings to wash her hands and she put the rings in her bra. One day it fell somewhere (fell out of her bra) and she didn't notice- the ring...lost forever. I only take my ring off when I go to bed and sometimes when I wash the dishes I put it on a counter FAR away from the sink!

Ahhh I am always thinking that is going to happen to me...or that I am going to lose it or something. Don't worry...you got it back and the ring is fine...that's what matters!

Re: Ring incident
I've heard a lot more ring incidents from people who DO take their rings off when they wash their hands (forgetting it, having it slip when they're taking it off, losing it in their clothes, etc) that I've been advised that it's safer to leave it on! Maybe you need to have it made a little smaller? They have lots of things they can do now, like put little balls inside the ring so that it can be made as tight as possible but still be able to slide on and off when you want it to.
I would say if you do decide to take it off, carry a little ring box with you and ONLY put it in the ring box. My grandma lost hers wrapping it in a tissue and sticking it in her purse!
I keep a ring box in the dining room and if I take mine off if I'm cleaning chicken or smoething like that, I will ONLY put it in that box.

Re: Ring incident
Did your ring just fall off when you were washing your hands? It sounds like it's way too big on your finger. I'd get it resized.

I did have it resized, but I'm always cold so my ring is always sliding around my finger. FH bought it from Blue Nile and he was so worried when he had to send it back to them and I'm just paranoid to take it anywhere else to resize again. My rings is a 4.75, so I plan to get my band a 4.5 and just wear it in front of my e-ring.
I wanted to get the small balls on the inside of the ring but the way my ring is shaped it could damage the ring. The band of my e-ring isn't flat; I don't know how to describe it.

It's probably a comfort fit band, so it's curved inside.
You shouldn't need balls at all if your ring is sized properly. You must have very small knuckles (I do, too) so you need to size the ring so it's tight around your finger. If it's falling off at a 4.75 I'm going to think you'll need a 4.25. Go to a GOOD jewelry store and have your finger sized. Go to a Michael C. Fina or Tiffany and look at wedding bands there. Have your finger sized. You don't actually have to buy there.
