Ring Insurance?

Ring Insurance?

I'm so f-ing busy I can't get anything done during the day. FH is even worse, some night we drop dead asleep before even having a chance to talk.

So I need to get ring insurance, I have appraisals for both wedding and e-rings.

Where do I get it done, do I just mail a copy of appraisals, can it be done over fax/phone?

Do I have to go to an office? Mind you I don't get home till 9pm most nights and I'm out of the house at 6am. I really don't have minute to spare lately and want to get this done!

Do you have homeowners or renters insurance? If you do you can call your regular insurance co. and insure it under one of those lines of business, you won't have to go in.

As long as you have the appraisal, you can do it via fax/phone - don't need to go in person. I'm using Travelers and they cover everything (including loss/theft) for a very reasonable price. I worked with Erin at Ruchman Associates on Long Island. 516-764-8330.

I added mine to my renter's insurance. very quick and easier than taking out a whole new policy.

We are still working on this! We tried to add it to our rental insurance but if your ring is valued over 20K its a BIG process. A representitive has to come over they send there own appraisal people. Since its been such a big process I havent been able to follow through with anything. Does anyone know a company who will work with this with out it being a process????

i used state farm, just called the agent we have for home owners, but i got a separate policy for my e-ring, all done over the phone and fax

Re: Ring Insurance?

you can add it to your Homeowners or Renters if it's appraised under a certain amount. But if it's over that amount, then what they can do is add a rider to your policy. If you don't have either Homeowners or Renters....then i dont think there's a standard market for mono-line ring policy.

i found that State Farm has one of the best coverages...it actually covers the exact cut, clarity, color, size, etc. as opposed to just the dollar amount. the problem with places that insure by dollar amount is that diamonds always go up in value...so in 10years if u lose ur ring, ur only insured the original amount thats on ur policy instead of the new increased value on ur ring..i'm sure there are other agencies that do this too, but state farm is one that i know of for sure. good luck!

Ummm I just called my insurance company and I have to get a separate policy because my ring appraised too high (they said the max they cover is 18, which I don't feel is that much).

Does anyone have a contact at State Farm I can use? I feel pretty stupid calling State Farm like HI CAN SOMEONE HELP ME?!

And would you mind telling me if you have to have your renters/homeowners thru them to get the ring policy thru them?

I already paid mine for the year and I don't really feel like switching it up.

Re: Ring Insurance?

if you call to get it all quoted, they might be more competitive than your current package. it's worth just to find out.
