Has anyone else diamond come lose from its setting? I got my ring only six months ago and the daimond has come lose twice already. IS this normal? It is a high setting so I get it caught on clothes quite often. It makes me so nervouse to wear it. I feel bad becuase when FH sees how upset I get it makes him feel so bad..

Re: Ring Problems
I have a low setting because I didn't want to bang my ring into things and I wear my ring 24/7. I don't think a high setting would make your setting loosen unless you were constantly banging the prongs against things often?
maybe take it to a different jeweler...

Re: Ring Problems
I've had my e-ring for just under a year and I've had this happen once. My center stone is set VERY high, so I do think that has something to do with it (it's more exposed and I do knock it around). I just brought it back to the jeweler who made it and he tightens it back up and also, since mine is white gold, he dipped it at that time.

Re: Ring Problems
This has happened to me a few times already. I have a fairly large stone, and it is set pretty high. One good bang and it comes loose.

Re: Ring Problems
I hope you are able to take it to the jeweler and have it repaired It would worry me too but try not to let it upset you. It probably also wouldn't hurt to look into insurance in the case you don't have it insured already

Re: Ring Problems --- UpDATE
Update:
My FH just took the ring to the jeweler and he gave 3 options:
1) just leave it but be careful because it will come lose on occasion 2) have to change the prongs to 6, which I feel will cover the diamond 3) make the center a little lower, which I feel will not look good becasue the setting is a wide band and I feel they will not be proportioned to each other then.
I am so upset I do not know what to do. I told FH I am thinking of just changing the whole setting and he flipped on me. I think I am going to bring it to another jeweler to get a 2nd opinion....

Re: Ring Problems
mine came lose once and only because i fell and banged my hand really hard on the ground. but once i got it fixed it is fine. i hit my hand on EVERYTHING. it really shouldnt come lose that easily if it is set properly. maybe bring it to a different jeweler.
i went to HL Gross in garden city and they were awesome.

Re: Ring Problems
I have mine set high and it never came loose... all my girlfriends, too. I suggest that you bring it to another skilled jeweler to have it fixed.
Recently, I got my e-ring appraised on the spot because I drove my girlfriend to get hers appraised and here's what the Appraiser said about our jeweler...
'You have a really good jeweler and your rocks will never get loose.. the woman (customer) that just left before you wasn't so lucky. It's a real skill to get the metal (prongs) to hold over the rocks and your jeweler did an awesome job.. I dig him/her. It's a real nice worksmanship!'
I was so thrilled to hear all that... please FM me if you need more information about my jeweler to get a second opinion.

Re: Ring Problems
I think the # of prongs you have and the height of the setting has something to do with it. Mine came loose once its not like it would fall out, its just that it could kind of turn slightly. I got it reset because I was nervous but I've heard Married women that have had their rings for yrs and yrs say that its very common especially if you wears it all the time.

I have 6 prongs & it doesnt cover the diamond!! And I know what you mean about lowering the stone & the proportions. Mine was low to be safe & I just had it raised & it's fine!! I would try another jeweler & see what they say!!
