Re: ring quality
Platinum is more pure that gold... white/yellow gold is mixed with other metals. 10 K is cheaper than 14k which means 10k has more metals mixed in. 18k is the best to buy. Platinum is worth alot more than gold. I think gold id worh about $200 an ounce where platinum is worth close to $850 an ounce. Everything inflated with in the last year. Hope this was helpful

Re: ring quality
Platinum is a purer metal. White Gold is dipped to look silver. This color wears away after time
Platinum is also more expensive because there is less of it available
platinum will retain that 'silver' type color white gold which is a mixture of gold and other metal will over time will start showing a yellowish appearance on the metal... so it will not stay that full silver color... also if you scratch your ring, the platinum is suppose to resurface in the ring, where with the gold you can just lose the gold(not sure how though)... white gold is also suppose to be cheaper cause theres suppose to be a greater supply of it than platinum.. use to work for a jewlery store....

Re: ring quality
my sister in laws ring is in white gold. She is having problems with the prongs, they are breaking off. The ring's diamonds go all aroung her finger. The jewler said she should have used platnum, because it's stronger.

Re: ring quality
Platinum is definitly a better quality, however White Gold is a stronger metal. Our jeweler advised that my husband's wedding band should be white gold because men are alot rougher than woman and it woud not get as damaged.
