Of course I love my engagement ring! Exactly what I wanted! So, recently I had a baguette fall out and I dont know how or where. I bugged out!! Working two jobs, in the chaos..I lost it. To replace it wasnt too easy since the jeweler he had originally got it from was in Manhattan. I was NOT treking there to replace it. We went to a local jeweler we have been going to who somehow found a sort of/like kind baguette. Well after the job was done, it dosent match. I hate to say that it looks terrible and to the naked eye you could never tell....sort of. I know he did his best but, I look at it Im just not happy. Would it be so bad to change my setting?? I havent bought it up to FH yet and I know I will be losing some $$ towards purchasing a new one.(and $$ is not what we have with saving for the wedding) I guess we went about it the wrong way..having it replaced by someone else.
I just look at my ring and I get all upset!!!

Re: Ring setting- A question?
I am so sorry that you are experiencing this...What if you took the ring back to the original jeweler & explain what happened & see if he can replace the new stone that doesn't match...At least this way, you can keep your original setting that you love & not be upset anymore!
I have had FH bring my ring back to the original jeweler in NYC to fix one of the stones that was pushed down. Once it was fixed, I am so happy!

Im so sorry you are upset!!!! Have you thought about going back to the jewler who replaced it to speak with him about not being happy?? Id say that could be your first step. THen you have to think about what YOU want. DO you love your setting or do you WANT a new one. B/c worst comes to worst, maybe the dealer that fixed it will just charge you for labor and you can bring the ring back to where he originally got it from and have the work done there. Cheer up though...youll be able to fix it. Can you post a pic of it??

So sorry maybe you can go to the guy in Manhattan so he can fix it??? I don't know about changing the setting. I am a very sentimental person, IMO, the one FH gave me means a lot to me, mine's scratched up b/c I wear it all the time, but it's still perfect to me. Good Luck

Re: Ring setting- A question?
Thanks everyone for your input. I spoke to FH today and he said its going to be a pain to take it there(manhattan). It was a dealer not a jeweler...kind of a long story. Best bet is that I am taking to the jeweler who replaced the baguette and see if he can get TWO exact ones. Lets see if that could help in making my ring look like it used to.
I dont want another setting but If I cant seem to get the right stones, I might have to. Just dissappointing. We are also coming around to being engaged a year already!!!
I would post a pic except that Im at work and our digitial is MIA!

Well best of luck to you...if you can change the other one too then it should be fine. Hope everything works out
