My e-ring is a bit loose and I currently just wear a ring guard with it to ensure I don't lose it. I need to go and get it correctly sized ASAP but am unsure where to go. Can anyone recommend a reputable jeweler to size my ring, that does it while you wait.
TIA!

Re: Ring Sizing
I am not sure where you live on the Island, but I used to work at M*arkar in Smithtown. It's family owned and operated, and they are great. Usually, if you schedule a time to come in over the weekend when the jeweler is on-site (Fri or Sat), you can wait for it.

Re: Ring Sizing
I went to tri-county and they didn't change the size of the ring. They put these little balls inside of the ring to make it fit better. And if I need the extra space later on in life they can simply be removed.

Gennaro's in Bellmore, you watch the whole process, the ring never leaves your sight!

Interesting!! I never heard of that but that is a great option.

I had this done too! My setting has a lot of tiny diamonds all around the front and sides, so sizing would be very very difficult.
It's also good for season changes. When they put the balls in the ring last August, it was very snug fitting and took some fidgeting to get the ring off. Now that it is cold and not humid, the ring slides off easily but still wouldn't fall off because of the balls.
It also helps to keep the diamond from spinning around on your finger!

Re: Ring Sizing
the balls/'shots'/beads are usually not supposed to be used for sizing. they are supposed to be used for people with big knuckles and thinner fingers. Beads (NOt my ring):
I dont have large knuckles but had to get these balls put into a ring that was oddly shaped, like geometrically skewed square, that could not be brought down 1/4 size to fit my finger because of the odd shape and had no other choice or the ring would fall off easily.
I can tell you, the shots can hurt a bit and can leave marks in your skin. You get used to it after a while but it is something to think about. It is the easiest thing for the jeweler to do though, and if your fingers get fatter with age they're the easiest things to take off.
I don't have one but a bridge might be more comfortable. The store I got my ring at didn't offer them unfortunately. This is NOT my ring, just a picture of a bridge I found online.

Thanks for all the tips girls! Maybe I will see if I can get to Gennaro's and decide if I should have the balls put in or just size it down.

Re: Ring Sizing
I went to the store where my fiance got my ring, and they were so rude insisting that I HAD to get my ring cut in order to re-size it. Mind you, the ring is about 1/4 size too big, and they wanted to cut it down 1/2 size. I told them if they cut it 1/2 size it will NOT fit me in the summertime to which they replied that I could come back and get it re-sized again!!!!
They would not allow me to get the beads saying it 'only for people with big knuckles.' I understand they were designed for people with bigger knuckles, but you can't possibly say its ONLY for them.

If they can't cut down 1/4 size its because they don't have the skill. Definitely go to another jeweler.

You should never never re-size a ring every time the weather changes too much! Geeeeeez that's crazy haha.

exactlyyy what I said to them!! AND this is a great jeweler that many girls on this board have raved about. The woman was such a you-know-what about it. I left without getting my ring re-sized.

Re: Ring Sizing
I have the 'balls' in my ring and I agree they take a little getting used to, but it makes it so much easier. It takes 2 mins to change the size and eliminates all the cutting of the metal, which is especially pricey if you have platinum. It's also really fun telling my jeweler that I need bigger balls! He laughs every time (I'm sick, I know)
I agree that you should try a different jeweler. I go to Sam at diamond roof in tri county. He's great! Get some balls!!!

Thanks for all the great suggestions ladies. I ended up checking out Gennaro's this weekend and they were GREAT! Your ring actually never leaves your site!!! It was a bit pricey b/c my band is platinum but worth every penny! They sized it, cleaned it, checked all my prongs, and buffed out any scratches I had.

Re: Ring Sizing
where did your fiance buy it? my ring was an estate piece and we just went back to the jeweler (sorry they are located in vermont) and they resized it (adjusted settings again, etc) for free!

Re: Ring Sizing
Same!
I'd say try the same place for re-sizing. My fiance bought the ring at I Love Lucy's in Commack & we brought back the ring and they resized it for free, while we waited.
