Can you buy an engagement ring for $2000 and actually have a nice ring?
My e-ring is more like a promise ring. Everywhere I go people say, 'let me see the ring,' and they are like 'oh-nice.'
I never cared but lately it has been bugging me. I really want a new e-ring......a perm. one though.......
What would you do if you were me:
1) Keep the ring, buy a nice wedding band to complement it.
2) buy a new e-ring
3) Update the center diamond (Is it expensive though?)
What would you do, honest!

I want to upgrade myself..although my e-ring is very nice I would love something flashyer lol but thats just me..if you are happy with the setting than upgrade the diamond...or buy a wedding band that you love that goes with the e-ring..my w-ring compliments my e-ring but looks great on it's own...
I heard you can get great diamond deals in the diamond district in NYC worth a shot for ur price range.. HTH

I think so! check this site out http://www.shenoadiamonds.com if you do a search on here for that company you'll see they come highly recommended and you can haggle the price down in person..they are located in the city..
I understand it is a sensitive subject..I lucked out because my FH KNOWS i'm flashy and love me some bling-bling LOL so me wanting to 'upgrade' is assumed..he doesnt feel bad because I told I'd love to keep the setting he picked just upgrade the center stone.. I'm still working on this lol good luck!

I definitely recommend Shenoa! My e-ring is from them, and I LOVE it! Your best bet is to call them up before going in to their showroom. Let them know what you're looking for (give them some specs and a price range) and they will totally work with you. Definitely haggle!! I looked at their ebay items initially, to get a feel for what they had (their ebay store is MUCH better than their shenoadiamonds website), then I made an appointment (with fh) to look at the goods. Their ebay seller id is shenoa_and_co Lots of luck, and let us know what you end up getting!

Re: Rings...
I bought mine at an estate jeweler. I like the idea that is has history. It might even be from the 1920's. I think that's cool JMO. Try an estate jeweler. I got 1 ct. with .75 cts in side stones. I forgot exactly how much it was. I think w/ tax and everything it was about $2100.
Heather I LOVE your ring. I told FH if he didnt buy a new one I wanted an old one like yours!
FH purchased mine upstate and got a really good price under 2k and its lil over a 1karat. Sometimes I think everything in the NYC area is jacked up in price
