Rings - what kind and where did you buy?
We are set to look at wedding bands this weekend (better late than never). My FI thinks it`s important to have matching bands - but I think I want a diamond band instead. What kind of bands did you choose and where did you go for them? Thanks...

Rings - what kind and where did you buy?
We bought ours at the gold & diamond district in Manhattan, on 47th Street. There is the most selection there, and you can comparison shop. With respect to the type of rings, at first I didn't think we were going to agree on a ring that we would both like, but we found one that we both loved. It's a two-tone (18K and platinum) ring that's beautiful. I originally thought I would want a diamond wedding band too, but let me tell you, the feeling that we both have the same ring meant so much to me. Whenever I look at my ring, I know he's wearing the same ring on his finger, and it really ties us together no matter where we are. I think the wedding band is not just a piece of jewelry, but a symbol, and what better symbol of unity than to have the same ring. I'll probably get the diamond wedding band as an anniversary gift in a few years. But for now, this is the most important thing to me. I'm not trying to pass judgment, because I know that SO many people get the diamond wedding bands and they look beautiful. Do whatever makes you both happy.

Rings -?
Gold and Platinum- ArtCarved. Did tons of research on style and prices. We found the best deal at Tri State Flea Market - in LI..I think it is Smithtown. Upstairs are about 30 different Jewelry vendors. I cant remember the name of the vendor we went to off the top of my head..but they were most accomdating. AND- we both got the same ring and we are the SAME SIZE! (wierd, huh?)

Rings - what we did... a lil long :)
I got 2 wedding bands? Selfish, eh? LOL Anyway, like you, I wanted a diamond one to match my e-ring but I also wanted a 'plain' one to match his band... So, the diamond band is my wedding gift! :) {I got him a camcorder + accessories!} I would have definitely gotten just the plain one (to match) if I could only have one. We just picked out the plain bands Tuesday!! His is platinum 6 mm comfort fit and mine is 3 mm. We're having them engraved, too. They'll be ready in 2 weeks. Oh, almost forgot! We got our rings at Sanford Liebross and Son (Jeff Liebross is who we deal with) at 66 Bowery Street. Good luck!

How far in advance did you buy them -
We ordered my diamond band in the end of June since it was custom made and the entire jewelry district goes on a *forced* vacation for 2 weeks in July. With our plain ones - it's just under 6 weeks to go...

dumb question
So...if you get two bands, which fingers do you wear them on? :) Do you wear them both at the same time?

We actually did the same thing as Kathi...
I have two wedding bands one diamond & one plain platinum to match my husband`s. It seems like a lot, but I love them both, and usually wear all three (e-ring & the two bands) together since I specifically got a thin (3mm) plain band. It`s personal choice really. However, we used the diamond one in the ceremony and I wore the plain one on my right hand during it. Regarding how far in advance...we ordered 3 months ahead just to be on the safe side, and we got them quicker than the jeweler had said...approx. 3 weeks later. Good luck!

Well we started out looking for matching bands but didn't end up with them. We had a hard time finding a band that worked with my E Ring, so I went with a basic plat. I also got a diamond band :). He was going to go with the basic plat. but then he saw a brushed white gold with two thin bands of black onyx inlayed and loved it. So do I but its definately a mans ring, so not match for us. We bought them at Culha Diamonds on 47th St. They have a hugh selection and stock so we were able to walk out with them. They also worked with us on price. We got them about two months before our wedding.

Rings - what kind and where did you buy?
We have completely different rings - Mine has an emerald cut diamond in the center surrounded by two sapphires. Sapphire is his birthstone, diamond is mine. The cuts of the side stones match those on my engagement ring which is all diamonds. My husband got just the plainest gold band you could ever find! They don't match but it didn't matter! As far as timing, we designed mine and picked his out in April for our May wedding! I was picking up my ring 3 days before the wedding - I don't recommend the stress!! But it's possible to get it done quickly and beautifully. Got them at Good Old Gold in Massapequa...

I got matching bands at Fortunoffs about 5 months from my wedding. We got them engraved at our jewler. Here is a nice idea a little pricey but nice. Why don't you get two bands one matching his and one diamond that way you can switch on and off and have them both blessed at the ceremony.

It's your choice. You can wear one on each hand or one at a time. Any combo works.

KATHI - Cost of plain platinum bands? *NM*
The 6 mm is about $650 and the 3mm is about $350 (depends on price of platinum that day). They're comfort fit so there's a bit more weight to them. And, my jeweler is engraving them for free!! :)

Long.....Rings, Rings, more Rings.
Like many of the other brides, I too, purchased two wedding bands - one that has a full carat of diamonds, and one that matches my husband's. We purchased all the rings at The Shane Co. (I don't believe they have stores in the Northeast.) My matching band is not too thin, b/c I felt that when I wear it alone, I wanted it to 'feel' similar in width to my engagement/diamond wedding ring combo. I wear both everyday to work, with my engagement/wedding combo on my left hand, and the plain one on my right hand. I wear the plain one often on the weekends (when I'm doing housework!) It was very important to my husband that we had matching bands, but at the time, it didn't matter to me. After our ceremony, however, I was very happy with my decision to get both b/c of sentimental reasons. Also, it was extremely important to me that both rings were part of the ceremony and blessed by our priest. My husband put the diamond one on my left hand first (silently), and then with the second one, he recited 'With this ring...' I wore my engagement ring on my right hand on the wedding day.
