I am new on here so not sure where to post.. But i am so close to booking the Riviera and have been reading mixed reviews on here about the food, can you give me your opinions?
Also how many people did you have? We are about 175 and im a bit concerned it will be too tight.
Thanks!

ALSO, read the opinions about the food. I was about to book there, then went for a tasting, and cancelled. I was so devastated, we went for a 2nd tasting a week later, and same thing. I just didn't like it.
But keep in mind, that's my personal taste, and many ladies on here love it.
Also, check out Complaints.com- there's a scathing review of the place and the owner. I hear the service is bad and getting a drink is a nightmare- but again, that's just what I've heard.
What I KNOW is that the owner was rude every time I met him. I'm talking rude comments under his breath, interrupting, etc. And I was telling him how much I loved the place!! Complete jerk.
However, the ladies who work there are very nice.

I think 175 people is too many for the Riviera.

Re: Riviera at Massapequa - opinion
went to a wedding there 2 weekends ago. Outside its absolutely beautiful... inside the set up is strange. Its very hard to see the dance floor and its a little tight. As for the food, It wasnt bad... but it was great. I wasnt watering at the mouth or anything. I would say it was average. Very pretty place though.... hope all goes well at your meeting!

175 is extremely tight for them unless you don't mind sticking people in the back corner. IMO the food was good but thought the service is horrible good luck.

I love the outside there, but agree that it would be tight with 175 inside. we had a tasting there, and the cocktail hour food we had was good. Check out Thatched Cottage -- has similar gazebo for outside ceremony, but the inside is bigger, and set up differently, and the food was out of this world. I was very happy there, after seriously considering Riviera. If you love the Riviera, you should go for it -- it will be tight, but you can make it work! I think the grounds are some of the nicest I've seen anywhere!

I was a DOC for my friend's wedding there. The food was good. It was definitely not the best I have ever had...but it was not bad either. I would be concerned with 175. She had a little less than that and it was tight. Also remember that if you're inviting 175, you will have less than that at your wedding. So you should be ok with the number.

When I went to look at the Riveria, the lady helping us was VERY rude. She answered personal phone calls and used foul language the entire time. She even MADE personal phone calls while meeting with us.

My mother went there recently for a wedding and said that the place was good, but only if you are having a small wedding as the space was kinda tight.

Re: Riviera at Massapequa - opinion
Just to add- there are a few ladies who work there. One was Megan, and she was my fave. So nice, and she was really fun to talk to. There was another, Vicky, who I loved as well.
There is another lady there- I don't want to get anyone fired, so I won't mention her name. She cursed a blue streak when we were there. I think she thought she was being familiar and funny, but it was really disturbing. I curse enough in everyday life- I feel like my wedding should be a sort of fantasy-time. I really don't need to hear that when I'm planning my wedding. and yes, she also took personal phone calls when I was there.
But I have to say, I loved the place so much, I think I'll always be a bit sad about not having it there. But all of the cons- the food, blackout, the owner, it was just too much.

My step-sister got married there a few years ago. I liked it, they had the ceremony right there by the water and it was very nice but my heels were going into the grass! The food wasn't fantastic but it was good. Everyone seemed to have a really nice time.

Ive been to 3 weddings there in the last 2 yrs. The food was less than desirable. The outside is beautiful, and thats about it. And 175 will def be very very tight. I think you should keep looking... JMO.

Re: Riviera at Massapequa - opinion
IMO FH and I loved it there, we thought it was beautiful. We are planning on having a small intimate winter wedding, so I think the location has that cozy feel that I was dying to find. We went for a food tasting and everything that was offered to us for the most part we liked, and we've been there many times during weddings that seemed like they were running smoothly. We've talked to Michelle and Vicky, both of whom were very kind, actually a lot nicer to us than some other people had been at different halls, and they were very accomodating and helpful. That being said though there are also two VERY big reasons we are booking there.
One is that FH has a very serious problem with food allergies which are life threatning, therefore we had to book at a one party at a time place. All of the places we went to before this one kind of seemed like they weren't as concerned as they should have been to the seriousness of the situation, and kind of blew it off instead of reassuring me. That in turn worried me and made me untrusting.
Two is that my father has a serious medical condition that inhibits him from walking safely up or down even just one step, and he cannot walk nor drive far either. So the fact that this place is all on one level -with the exception of the 3 steps to get in- and it is very small, will make him worry less about falling and being embarrassed and he can spend less time worrying and more time just enjoying himself. He will be able to actually walk around and chat with his guests without being exhausted. The other plus is that it is very close to my parents home, which is also much better for my dad. I just want to be sure he is taken care of in the aspect of being considered in our wedding as much as possible.
that being said, i'd be lying if I said I didn't worry a little with the horror stories I've heard. However, I know things happen and I just kind of have to hope that none of that stuff happens on our special day.

I went to a November wedding here & have to stay I don't really have anything postive to say except glad the Bride & groom were happy. The cocktail hour was horrible set up & very tight. The food ehhhhhh.
Good Luck to you.

I went to a wedding there a few years ago and I dont remember the food being that great. I dont think it was horrible but not anything amazing. Just my opinion!
