Riviera Brides (edited 5/22)

I'll follow up with the Riviera on these questions, but was wondering if any of the brides may already know the answers to these:

1) Does the hall supply you with an aisle runner? If not, how long of an aisle runner should you get?

2) How far in advance can you drop off belongings (favors, photographs, place cards, bathroom baskets, etc.) to the Riviera for them to store until your wedding?

3) For outdoor ceremonies, do they supply a sound system (microphone/speakers) or does your band/DJ do this?

4) Did they call you to set up the tasting and select menu, or you contacted them (My wedding is 2 months away)?

5) Do you get to meet your Maitre D and the Bridal Attendant prior to your wedding?

6) Is it 'buggy' by the water with the outdoor ceremony and would you recommend getting something to keep bugs away?

Thanks!

*** Edited to ask about flowers & uplighting...

What type of flowers are you all getting? I'm thinking of doing only low centerpieces - figuring 14 tables for 140 guests. sound about right?

Are any of you planning to do uplighting in the room? If so, how many lights are you getting?

If you've already had your wedding, did you do it and do you think it would look okay with only 6 lights? Does the Riviera provide the uplighting, or did you go through your florist/DJ?

So these are answers I have gotten from them:

1) Does the hall supply you with an aisle runner? If not, how long of an aisle runner should you get? They do not supply you with an aisle runner, but I am not having one so I have no idea what size to get. Sorry on that one!

2) How far in advance can you drop off belongings (favors, photographs, place cards, bathroom baskets, etc.) to the Riviera for them to store until your wedding? They will take your stuff a week before the wedding, but usually two to three days before is when most people bring it.

3) For outdoor ceremonies, do they supply a sound system (microphone/speakers) or does your band/DJ do this? I actually have no idea about this, but I sure should find out soon!

4) Did they call you to set up the tasting and select menu, or you contacted them (My wedding is 2 months away)? You have to call them for a tasting. They schedule you when there is another wedding going on and you can sample whatever CH food the wedding chose. So you don't get to taste all the CH options or any of the entrees. Just an FYI. For menu selection, you can do it by phone or in person, 6-8 weeks before the wedding. My mom is going in soon to do that for me.

5) Do you get to meet your Maitre D and the Bridal Attendant prior to your wedding? No unless they happen to be there at a time when you are, but you can request which one you want. I've heard Paul is an awesome Maitre D.

6) Is it 'buggy' by the water with the outdoor ceremony and would you recommend getting something to keep bugs away? I asked Jimmy the owner this question and he said that in July the bugs are not as bad as august or sept and that he's never had anyone really complain. But I am having citronella candles on the tables just in case.

HTH!

Honestly, if it wasn't for my mother, Mrs Lets-do-everything-7584-months-in-advance, I'd be in the same spot But if you want and vendor recommendations, just let me know! I've got all those things you listed done. And for the menu, I hear that they help you out when you go for the menu choosing if they think your choices suck And at our tasting, we didn't have anything that was bad!

I've been working mostly with Michele, who I love but I also met with Vicki once since it coincided with when I was home. I love everyone there that I've met!

1) Does the hall supply you with an aisle runner? If not, how long of an aisle runner should you get?

Not sure about the runner since we didn't get married there, but I do know that they advice against using one only for safety reason. That's not to say you can't have one at all, but they just want you to be aware. I remember Mary saying that they've had a few accidents in the past.

2) How far in advance can you drop off belongings (favors, photographs, place cards, bathroom baskets, etc.) to the Riviera for them to store until your wedding?

We dropped everything off 2 days before the wedding and stored it in their coat check room. Make sure you have all your boxes well packed and clearly labeled with your names, date of wedding, and even what's in each box so it's easy for them to locate things.

3) For outdoor ceremonies, do they supply a sound system (microphone/speakers) or does your band/DJ do this?

I believe the DJ does all of that. We had a steel drummer for the cocktail hour and I know that he had a speaker next to him as he played. I think that during the actual reception, they don't usually blast the music outside.

4) Did they call you to set up the tasting and select menu, or you contacted them (My wedding is 2 months away)?

We called to set up a tasting with them but wound up cancelling since they were having a showcase and that had more stuff to taste at it then would have tasted at the actual tasting. If you set up a meeting for a tasting, you will only get to taste whatever CH foods the event that evening has chosen. They will contact you to set up a semi-final meeting and that is when you go through everything and pick your menu.

5) Do you get to meet your Maitre D and the Bridal Attendant prior to your wedding?

We actually met our MD, Paul, several times before the wedding only because he happened to be there whenever we dropped off payments and whatnot. He's also the one who threw in a lot of free stuff for us (chocolate fountain, champagne greeting cart). We put in a special request for him to be our MD that evening and it was no problem at all. If he wasn't available we would have went with Anthony who is also really nice (he was actual one of the bartenders at our wedding). We didn't meet the BA beforehand but Jackie was soooo sweet and very helpful throughout the evening.

6) Is it 'buggy' by the water with the outdoor ceremony and would you recommend getting something to keep bugs away?

I did not find it to be buggy at all on the wedding day, though it may be different in July. I don't know what you are planning on doing as far as decor outside but it would look really nice with those tall Tiki torches scattered along the railings and I know they make the citronella ones. You may just have to check if that's ok with the Riviera.

If you have any other questions about the Riviera I will be happy to answer

We worked with all 3 of the BM there at one point or another but our fav by far was Vicki. She was just so pleasant to work with, funny, and we just got great vibes from her. That's not to say Mary or Michele aren't great, but we had a soft spot for Vicki.

Wow... thanks so much for answering all those questions! Maybe instead of an aisle runner, we'll just do flower petals... can't trip over those!! :-P

For storing the items, I'll definitely be sure to have everything labeled. At the end of the night, who was in charge of packing it all back up for you (photos, extra programs or favors if you have, cake topper, etc)?
