What are your backup locations if (god forbid) it rains? I spoke with our photog this week and he was saying we could just take pictures in that main lobby area but honetly for me - so not ideal. I know we could make something work, maybe using the piano or something, but I would really rather not use that as the indoor option for the BP pictures. Family pictures in there would be fine.
So where are you girls going as a back up? It's hard for me to find a place that is enroute between the Bronx and the Riviera.

Re: Riviera Girls: (Elly and Chantelle)... question?
Ugg I have no idea and this has been stressing me out for months!!!!!
I've tried to think of so many ideas but nothing really grabbed me or really has anything to do with FH and I.
I know a 2010 bride did pics in a library, they came out so great but for FH it's not really signifigant - KWIM?
I've seen pics in bowling alleys - kinda cute, FH and I like to bowel but thats kinda where that interest ends.
Other then that I can't think of anything thats interesting, that's indoors from the church to the Riviera. I have seen a ton of photos done inside there and they are pretty. Part of the photog's job is to take what they have and make it fab so I know ours will but i hear ya, i wanted a special location for photos if we can't be outdoors.
Sorry - this was long and i really don't have an answer lol

That's ok. I guess it's not the end of the world if they have to be inside the Riviera - I just didn't want them to be.
I saw those library pics and they were very cool but like you said, not very significant for us.
I guess I will just keep trying to look for places and hopefully something will jump out at me.

Yea keep me posted if you happen to find anything.
I even checked out the atrium at the old EAB Plaza and it's not how it used to be when I was a kid, so nothing really special for pics.
I also kind of refuse to pay anything b/c I think it's just such a wasted expense.
Plus if it is nice out and you don't need the indoor space, do we just eat the $$ we spent to rent the space?? B/c that would totally pi$$ me off!!!!

This is seriously my BIGGEST stressor right now!! It is beautiful there, but I don't want ALL my pictures from the day at the same place if it rains!
Me and FH have found a couple of places, but IMO $350 for a couple hours of pictures is out of my budget :( Originally I had contacted the Nunley's carousel, the carousel at Hempstead Lake State Park, Old Westubury, and Chelsea Mansion. FH is really trying for a funky feel, but there really is nothing around the area! I am going to keep looking and will keep you girls posted! This is my one goal for the immediate future.

Agreed - $350 is just sooooo ridic!!!!
I originally though of the Rock Hall Museum - this is really close to our church.
Totally out there since it's an old pre-revolutionary war home but I thought it could be bool.
I never really looked into it further, but maybe I should to see if they would even do wedding pics but I have to check it out first - I've never actually been there.

I know Rock Hall....I pass it everyday in the summer going to the beach! I think I went there once for a school trip, but totally don't remember it at all. But it looks like it could be cool!
I was also contemplating Old Bethpage village for an older feel, but not sure about their pricing either.

One thing I do have to check into is places by my church (which wouldn't necessarily help you girls out since it's in the Bronx). But even that I can't think of a single indoor place to do it.
So stressful. And I agree - I would much rather not pay hundreds of $$ if I don't have to.

I really like the Old Bethpage Village idea - totally look into that.
I wish there was some cool, indoor, botanical garden/atrium type thing in the area but there really is nothing
We too wanted something with a different feel to it but there just aren't a lot of options.
I actually stumpled upon Rock Hall when looking through the Town of Hempstead brochure they send out in the summer, giving you ideas of things to do in the area.

The only place I can think of which is somewhat en route from the Bronx to the Riviera is the Oyster Bay planting fields. They have a bunch of greenhouses where you can be out of the rain that I'm pretty sure you can use for photo's. It may be worth checking out.

I had the same concern, so I just booked old westbury gardens, you can take pictures in doors if it rains only, and one of the rooms has a grand piano.

How much is it to do indoors only? And if we wind up not having to use them will be get our money back?

thats the thing they dont just do indoors, only if it rains you can do indoor pictures. Otherwise the gardens are beautiful, so thats why I booked. I liked both.
for more info, you can call Kimberly she was very helpful.
I also looked into Hempstead house just for indoor pics, that they do there but they were not available on my date, they were shooting a movie. Also very beautiful
