Hey all, Riviera does their tastings a little different then other places... has anyone had theirs & can share their experience?

Re: Riviera tasting
FH, me and my parents did ours on the day we signed our contract...
we sat in the office and they brought us samples from the wedding they were preparing for... offered us any drink we wanted from the bar too..
it was great - we got to taste a mix of things counting on what that particular bride and groom selected
PS - this is from the Riviera in Massapequa, there is a different on in Brooklyn so not sure which you meant

Re: Riviera tasting
We have not gone for our official tasting yet though my mom and I tasted their food at one of their Showcases a few years back and it was amazing!
i think the way the do it is to schedule a tasting on a day of an event and you would go there before the event happens and they let you sample whatever the event ordered for that day. i don't think you can just go in and tell them 'i want to try this and this this and this'

Are you guys going to go for another tasting before you pick your menus?

That's the one, they told us it was just for the two of us... hmmm. They certainly do things differently!

We booked off the 'cocktail' hour from a showcase.. the food was amazing.
FH never tasted it... they said we can do a tasting when we do the menu.

that tasting, will it be the cocktail hour food like they usually do for tastings or are they going to be doing a tasting for the entree choices?

I'm going to ask that we can - it was a big deal for FH to taste some of the food before we actually signed anything so thats why we requested it that day....

She said that it would be entree choices and a few 'extra's' that they were preparing for a wedding.. (like what Weezygirl said above)..

Re: Riviera tasting
hmm now I am so confused, I thought it was NOT the entree choices and that it was JUST the cocktail hour food.

They gave us a choice of what we would like to sample - the cocktail hour food or entrees. We picked the cocktail hour food since it's more of a variety. We also went during an event and sat in the indoor cocktail hour area while the party was still outside.

when I spoke with Mary (not my usual contact) yesterday she said that the cocktail hour tasting is how they usually do it, it's very rare for them to do it any other way and if they do that they have to get the OK from the owner... I'm not freaking out b/c the food there is supposedly AMAZING!

We've been working with Michele, and we really liked her, at least so far.
