Re: RK?
Here is ther site. I haven't gone there yet, but from what I've heard its very hands on. You don't need an appointment, you can look through the dresses your self. And its the actual dress you'll buy, not a sample to order. They are organized by size. I think it can get crowded, so I am going to go on a weekday if I can.
It's a big store with tons of round racks full of dresses separated by designer. Most of their dresses are under $3000 with the majority in the $1000 range. The first time that you go, you get assigned a consultant and she helps you. You can also sift through the dresses yourself and pull out the ones that you like. You can bring up to 7 into your dressing room at a time. There are about 6 dressing rooms- each consultant has her own. The next time that you go back, you can make an appointment directly with your sales consultant.
It's not a fancy boutique but it is nice and they have a ton of dresses to chose from. They also have a large selection of bridesmaid dresses set up in the same way as the bridal gowns.
If you go, I highly recommend that you do not go on a weekend or after work (at least for your first time)- you will end up waiting forever to get a consultant! I took a day off from work and went it when they opened and it was perfect- there was nobody there! By 12ish, there were a bunch of girls waiting to get into a room with a consultant.
I went twice and had a good experience. I was totally planning to go back and get a dress there but then I found something else at a sample sale.
Good luck!

Re: RK?
no- they order the dress for you new.
They also have a program called 'no frills' where you order your own size (I think you have to order it on the phone or on line) and the price is a tad bit lower. If you find the dress cheaper somewhere else, they will match it and give you 5% off- but only if you do 'no frills'. They will not measure you or help you at all.

Re: RK?
mindy, they won't help you if you go through their no-frills program...but they'll help you if you just go regular?

Re: RK?
I never really explored the no-frills option b/c I wanted them to help me. But, I think that you can go in and have them help you. But if you want to order through their no-frills program, you can do that on your own after you go in. They won't measure you until you want to place an order so if you tell them that you want their no-frills program, they won't measure you.
Does that make sense? Since I didn't really consider this option for me, I don't know all of the details but for more information on this, I'd call the store.
Hope this helps...

Re: RK?
I just had my first fitting at RK this Saturday.
My recommendation to you is to take pictures of the styles that you like, that way if they don't have the exact dress they will show you something similar to it. That is how I found my dress, I told my consultant what style I wanted the dress to be and after trying on many, many, many dresses. I fell in love with one that she found!
There are so many dresses and if you are like me ( I couldn't make up my mind) you may have to make a few visits to RK before finding the 'one'.
The 'no frills' program is cheaper, but they do not assist you in measureing, alteration and pressing.
With 'full service' program the dress cost more (but its still a discount price anyway), plus there is a charge for alterations, but they take care you as would any other bridal salon.

Re: RK?
That was very informative- thanks for the clarification about off the rack vs. ordering.
Has anyone had expereience with alterations there. I read somewhere that it might be better to go elsewhere if you need major changes, but that was just specualtion based on the lighting int e store, not from anyone's bad experience.

Re: RK?
I have no idea. I forget were I read this. Some people are just picky though. I think if it was cave-like, you would have noticed at your fitting.
I am just concerned becaue I had alterations doen at david's Bridal for a bridesmaid dress once, & they were awful, adn now I hear that a lot, and I am wondering how to find that out about other places in advance.

Re: RK?
I was there this past weekend looking for BM dresses. The consultant said that it was very helpful that I printed a picture of the dresses that I was interested in. One of the dresses I wanted although they carry it, they didnt have a sample for my BM to try on. Other than that the consultant was very responsive when I had questions and making suggestions.
BTW...the they don't let you take pictures in the store. I was able to sneak a few more after they told me I couldnt by turning off the flash and going into the fitting room with BM.

Re: RK?
I went to RK bridal in October looking for my wedding dress. I went on a Saturday without an appt and basically just went to look. I was pleasantly surprised at their selection for both brides and bridesmaids dresses. I ended up trying on more than 7 dresses(the consultant told me not to worry about that becaus eI was with her). She was so nice and patient. I narrowed it down to 2 dresses, then made an appt to go back 2 days later. I ended up buying my dress that 2nd time.(which was a monday but a holiday). I was really impressed with their selection and sales help, so after looking around at 1 other place, I brought my bridemaids there and we picked out and bought those dresses that day. But i would recommend making an appt for a Saturday because when they are expecting you, you won't have to wait as long for a dressing room, help, ie. . Its definitely worth checking out for the ir selection and their prices.

Re: RK?
I found my dress there. I ordered it on August 1 and it was ready by Oct 31. I loved my dress. I am not getting my alterations there only because I have someone who will be doing the alterations. The woman who helped me was so nice. I can't remember her name though. She was an older lady and she knew her dresses! RK will match or beat competitors prices.
