Hi ladies. I posted this on the BHB board, but didn't get too many hits. (One 2014 lady responded though - thanks Chrissy! )
I'm pretty sure I chose a gown, but now I have to figure out where to order it from! I want to do alterations at the same place I order since I don't know of any tailor who I would trust with my wedding dress. RK bridal has the cheapest alterations going ($350 cap including hem, bodice and bustle). If I ordered from them, I would save $300-$400 but I heard mixed reviews about their alterations.
Any feedback would be helpful!
My other options to order the dress from are Village Bridal, Lillette's, and Bridal Reflections. Their alterations caps are high though and I heard with some of these places they add on fees and you get hit with a big bill. I'm so confused!

RK Bridal - alterations help!
Check out Paradise Bridal in Patchogue! They have a great selection of dresses and their cap is $275 for alterations, the cheapest I've seen. I've ordered my Maggie Sottero lace dress from them and will get in 6 months!

Thanks for the suggestion. I might trek out there, but Patchogue is over an hour away. Plus, most salons' caps don't include the bustle and RK Bridal's does which is why I'm tempted to go there. Every salon I've been to told me that the bustle for my dress is around $200 more! (It's a long, heavy train)

Can you take your gown to another salon for tailoring? I'm wondering because I have a DB gown that I bought in Manhattan, but don't feel like schlepping it on the subway for alterations. Can I take it to somewhere closer to me that also sells gowns, just not the one I bought? Or is that tacky?

I don't think it's tacky, but the stores might charge more than their regular alterations for that. I'm not 100% sure about that though. When I called to ask about alterations prices, the first question every salon asked me was 'did you buy the dress from here?'

I ordered my dress from RK and fortunately I don't have to get much altered, but the only negative review I heard about their alterations department is that there is a language barrier which could be frustrating.

Hi Camille. I just looked at my invoice for the alterations info. It's $275 and additional charge for bustle per point is $10 and $15 for french bustle per point. Hope that helps in deciding if you want to go down there. It is quite far, took me an hr and 10 mins but defin worth it. I had the best experience there!
