They don't take your measurements and don't do alterations, which keeps the cost down for the dress.

How on earth will not taking measurements keep costs down? So what, they just order any random size?

it means you have to measure yourself and let them know what size to order based on a chart they have in the store. no one there will measure you. basically you just fill out a form and they order a dress. this makes the price lower because there's no customer service involved.

My sister did no frills for the flowergirls dresses. The girls there measured them but didn't write the measurements down. Basically, they measured the girls, verified with my sister that she agreed, and then my sister had to write them down.

They will obviously help you with everything - they can tell you the dress style, they will measure you, they will give you the designer's measuring charts, but you are 100% responsible for everything - including filling in the order form and signing a line on the bottom that says the store is not responsible if anything is wrong.

I did this for my CA dress. Walked in store...bought brand new size 16 sample....walked out!
(Alfred Angelo dress with pleats from last year)
Who-da-thunk it.
Price was about 1/3 less than regular bridal shop.
I paid a pretty penny for alterations.

I did my BM dresses with RK bridal. On a weekend, when I went and it was very busy, they are very hesitant (and usually won't) measure you-- they have tapes there and you basically do it yourself, which is not hard at all! However, I will say that I ordered Bari Jay dresses and the sizing chart was not exactly accurate-- almost all the girls that ordered according to the chart had their dresses large on them (except the ones that ordered closer to their street size).

Some of the girls who were like a street size 4 but ordered a 10 because the chart had them at a size 10-- I know BM dresses aren't true to size, but we should have ordered a 6 or 8-- so if you're in a similar situation where the chart size is huge don't be afraid to go down one or two sizes.

Hope that long version of an answer helps.

I got all my dresses there, mine, BM & FG. I did no frills for BM & FG. My BM's all went to their local tailors who was going to alter the dress for them anyway and she measured them and told them what size to order. It worked out fine for us especially since the girls were from different places and preferred to go to their own place for the alterations anyway.
