I'm thinking of running over there on my lunch hour...do you think I can get anything accomplished or should I wait until I can devote more time?

Re: RK Bridal on your lunch hour
I went on a Saturday morning and it was slightly hectic. I've been told that lunch hour is crazy there. Maybe call them up and ask them when is a less busy time.

At this time it should be dead.

Re: RK Bridal on your lunch hour
I went at like 2:15 and it was pretty empty. I'm still pretty eh about the dresses. I said I'd like part of one with a bottom like the other and she was like that doesn't exist. Bummer!

The top on this one....with more of a V and the bottom of the second...I like the pick up things.

But I'm not getting the 'wow' or 'this is it' or tears thing going on.

This is my dress so of course I LOVE it! But I too love the pick-ups....
I didn't cry though.

Might be too late for this, but yes, you can DEFINATELY go during lunch. I went with a BM for a fitting and what took my other girls 1 hour each on a Sat. took this girl 30 minutes.

Too big....let me try to fix it.
can you add the 'pick up' things to the first dress? I'm sur a seamstress would be able to do it.

If you're still pretty 'eh' I would say you haven't found the dress yet. There doesn't have to be tears, but IMHO, there should be a little more something then 'eh'. Try on some more in a few other places. You might find that your mind keeps wandering back to one of the two you posted, and that might give you more of a good feeling about either one of them.

try looking at Anne Barge. she has a few dresses with pick ups and also some with vnecks...maybe they could swap skirts...
also Demetrios and Henry Roth both have a nice assortment of dresses with pickups.
if you are looking for better customer service and more help. you may want to go to Kleinfelds. RK is great, but they don't call it 'no frills' for nothing.
good luck.

Re: RK Bridal on your lunch hour-now with pics
Well, I'm trying not to spend too much money, so I am scared of Kleinfeld's...I heard the dresses start at $1800 and then there is a $400 minimum on alterations. I was hoping to spend $1000 which I suppose may be kidding myself. The first dress was $1425 at RK.
And as for making the pickups, they said it wouldn't work with that dress design because it has pleats on the side. But very good idea!

I'm not sure how set you are on a particular designer. But maybe you want to check out Jasmine dresses, they will custom design what you want. So if you like the bottom of one dress and the top of another, they will do that for you. I'm a Jasmine bride (and hollie's dress twin). If you look in my community album, I have pictures of the dress I originally tried on and fell in love with, although I didn't want a strapless dress, and the finished product of the changes we made in my first fitting photos. I have my second fitting on Wednesday.
ETA: My dress along with the shawl was still under $1000.
