RK vs Lillette's opinion

RK vs Lillette's opinion

I definitely found the dress I want to get (Casablanca) but I don't know from where to get it. The dress is at Lillette's which is only about a half an hour from where I live and they have flexible hours which fit better with my schedule. However, The dress is $125 cheaper at RK Bridal. The problem with RK is that I don't work in Manhattan and they don't do alterations on weekends or after work hours. Lillette's told me they will not price match. Should I just get it at Lillette's and go with convenience? How is their customer service? Should I order from RK and have a dressmaker size it? What do you think I should do? T.I.A.

I'm an RK fan and bought a Casablanca so i'm biased but I do think you may want to consider getting your dress there and finding a seamstress.

If you can find the same Casablanca dress for less online RK price matches & takes off 5%. Only thing is you have to order it through the no frills where you don't get measured or altered @ RK but you are considering taking it elsewhere anyway so might as well save.

In addition, I think RK was a really good relationship with Casablanca. There's a ton of plaques from Casablanca to RK in appreciation. My dress came in super fast...in about a month! Their alteration schedule does s u c k so I may take mine somewhere else also...HTH

Go for the convenience.
You will have about 2 to 3 fittings, and then you have to go back one final time to pick up the dress.
In this case, I think that the extra $125 is worth it.

We went with Lillette's -- they are conveniently located, have a pretty good rep (have been in business for a whole) and are the only store of many i've been to that have an actual sample of my dress in the store. We didn't look at any stores in NYC because the commute would be a pain for us.

They don't price match or negotiate on price because they don't really need to -- they still get tons of business.

FM me if you want more details about my experiences with different bridal shops

I went to both places while shopping, and liked them both. I'd say go with what is convenient for you. If you don't live/work in the city, alterations will be a pain in the *** for RK. Or if you have a private seamstress, get it RK no-frills and do the alterations privately.

i got my bm dresses at Rk and they are great but you will be going for a couple of fittings so i think it would be more convenient to get it at lillette's. If it was a bigger price difference then id say it was worth but not for $125, you'll be spending money to go into the city and back anyways so it wouldnt be much of a different after you take into account transportation.

Could you get it at RK, and bring it for fittings to a seamstress thats more local to you?

how much are alterations at either place? i would consider that too. i think lillette's caps them at $295 but not sure about RK

i work in the city but i still got my casablanca at lillette's - that's where i found it. customer service is good; for $125 i would go with the more convenient one

You should contact Phyllis at gownfind. She will price match and is in Dix Hills, NY. You can email her at [email protected]. Lots of the brides on here have recommended her...check the boards! I plan on using her when I actually find a dress! FM me if you need more info! Good Luck!

Just wondering....did RK bridal tell you that they don't do alterations on the weekends?

I purchased my dress from them last year, then made 3 appointments, all for weekends for alterations.

I love RK bridal, so far, I haven't had any negative experience with them, and I hope it stays that way

Re: RK vs Lillette's opinion

To me, convenience was *everything* .... and they were absolutely wonderful to work with at Lillette's (where I got my dress, FMILs, FGs and my BMs too).

In the scheme of everything, $125 is just a drop in the bucket .... especially if it means you don't have to take off from work or leave work early to go to fittings.

Also, I felt better about having my dress altered at the place where I purchased it ... I knew if there was a freak mishap they would be able to replace it at their cost. Once you take your dress out of the shop where you bought it, it becomes your responsibility.

I ordered my BM's dresses from Lillettes and no complaints so far. I would use them for the convenience.
