So a couple of weeks ago I posted my vent about how after one month and two messages, the organist who coordinates the rehearsals still never got back to me.
FMIL decided to get involved, and called on Thursday night, but received the answering machine, so didn't bother to leave yet another message.
Called this morning and spoke to the mother I guess, who said that my name sounded familiar from the list of upcoming weddings, and that she probably didn't call me back because there's a 'queue' of weddings before us still.
I'm sorry, but that's just flipping rude. I don't care that there's 6 months till our wedding. I care that I left not one, but TWO messages that went un-returned. Just because we still have 6 months does not mean that we don't have to coordinate a time and date with a 9 person bridal party, 20 family members, decide if we're having a RD at all, and if so, where and who's footing it, etc. I don't see that as a valid excuse...I don't think a 'queue' is necessary to make a return phone call that will take all of two minutes. 'Are you free November 28th? Yeah? Cool, see you then!' I mean REALLY now.
FMIL was told that she'll 'try' to have her call us early in the week.
Of course, FH sees nothing wrong with this, because don't you know, it's the 'if I don't find it necessary to do right now, I just won't do it and eff off' attitude, that I am beginning to think is genetically hard wired in to this culture.

Re: ROAR Rehearsal Vent
i understand you vent, and it was wrong for her not to call you
buuuuuut you really only need 2 or so months to plan something...and im sure if you tell your bridal party that it will approx be on the 28th then they will hold the day open. if that is when you are planning on having the rehersal, im sure the church will be able to accomodate.
i have less than 3 months to the wedding, and havent coordinated any of it yet, so you are fine
they are bigger fish to fry, and everything will work out

I don't care if your wedding is 5 years from now that is rude! Just pick up a damn phone and call the person back!!!! I had issues with certain vendors not getting back to me and it drove me NUTS... That is the last kind of stress anyone should have to deal with when planning a wedding.

A simple returned phone call to you explaining the standard practices/ time frame would have not only been the right thing to do BUT the professional thing to do. Geesh !

Re: ROAR Rehearsal Vent
dude i think you need to relax.. im not trying to offend you but all you post on here is VENTS and negative stuff. i think you are letting all these things ruin the 'most memorable moments of your life' preparing for your wedding. i think you need to have a drink or two and smile and let it go.
edited for spelling...

Re: ROAR Rehearsal Vent
I think you have plenty of time. I understand your frustration with her not calling you back. I TOTALLY get it. But I also think that you do have time... and it's ok to let this one go to the back burner for a little while.
I have a 17 person bridal party (plus us), plus family... and I haven't even started to think about booking the RD yet (I'm just about on the 5 month mark). I don't know who is footing the bill.. nothing is booked for it... and I don't even know if we are doing a dinner or not yet. I told the BP which day it will most likely be so they are aware of that.
Everything will work out. It will all be fine.
And to be perfectly honest... if I was one of the brides getting married in a month and this wasn't booked yet... then I'd be ok with starting to get a little nervous... not only that but then I would be down right pissed if they called back and booked someone else's rehearsal, who was getting married in 6 months, before mine.
I know it's nice to have everything done before hand and really ahead of schedule... but these places dont always necessarily run on our time. It seems this is the way they do things there....there's not much you can do to change that.

I think you'll be okay for now. I haven't even finished pre cana yet and haven't though about my RD either, probably won't even have one with the way things are going but what can you do.
Edited for grammar

Re: ROAR Rehearsal Vent
Being a December girl I totally under your frustration. Trying to coordinate dates and times is hard enough under regular circumstances but when you are competing with holidays it makes it much more difficult.
I booked my RD already because I needed to get it before people booked holiday parties. I would say try to be patient for a little bit longer and try to not let it stress you. It will all work out in the end!

this perverse person posts bunnies eating babies because it helps her get through wedding stress without having to vent every 5 seconds on a wedding board that is suppose to be helpful and enjoyable!

I agree - people should return your call. Period. It doesn't matter how far off it is. A polite call back saying that although they are busy working on current weddings they wanted to get back to you would have been the way to go.

As long as we're on the same page about it.
It's not even so much the rehearsal itself that's bothering me. If I was told that the standard operating procedure was to call 3 months prior, in pecking order, or whatever the case may be, that would be totally cool, and I would have no choice but to accept that as gospel and not be able to micromanage and try to control it.
But rather, I was told to call 'as soon as possible' to book it, as per the priest himself, and was blown off, which I didn't appreciate, and I'm sure no one can argue with that fact that it's rude. A simple phone call back to say that my messages were received, and to call back in 3 months closer to the date would have sufficed, and that courtesy is all I was asking for.
We can now return to our regularly scheduled bunny-eat-baby action.
