Rocco Carmine or Michael Carmine POLL

I really like Carmine as the middle name but I can't choose between Rocco and Michael. I like them both.

Which do you like better? If you can think of another Italian boy's name for the middle name Carmine please list.

How about Vincent or Anthony?

Mario also comes to mind but doesn't work as well with the middle name.

Have you ever thought about using Carmine as the first name because it's a really strong name... In my opinon Carmine Michael sounds more appealing.... Just my opinon

Actually we have :). Carmine is my dad's name and that's why we are using it in the first place. At first (and DH is the one that wanted this name in the first place) I couldn't picture it but the more I think about it the more I like it. I just called him and he said he would like it as the first name.

We really like original names, names that are different/unique and that definitely connects with our Italian background. The only other person I know that has this name besides my dad is one of the Gotti boys.

So if we decide to do this and this question goes to anyone reading this should we care about the 'other side' DH's is family? We would probably start a war doing this but the reason my husband wants this name is because he's so close with my dad, he's learned so much from him and my dad is like the dad he's never had. He never had a good relationship with his own. I just know this would piss of quite a few people. What do you think do what we want right? I kind of know the answer to my own question I just like to hear what others think...

Kind of turing this thread into something else here...

Do what you want to do - It's your child.... If people have a problem with that which they shouldn't they need to check themselevs because im sure they wouldnt want people to be upset with them for picking a certain name... they also need to realize there are bigger things in the world to worry about other than - why did they name this child this or that....

Bottom line you do what you & your hunny feel is right!

is NEITHER a possibility.

honestly, there are not really 'italian' names...they are more american italian names...and unless you live in a small town in Ohio, they are quite common...at least in Brooklyn where I live.

if you are looking for something more Italian and traditional....read the italian newspapers...try Italian Google and baby names...

some I love

Alessandro
Mateo
Paolo
Gennaro
Filipo

you could add Carmine on to any one of this names, without having it sound like a character in a Scorcese flick...unless of course, that is what you are going for....in which case more power to you.

Except for Michael those names came straight from Naples, Italy where I was born. Relatives of mine living here and in Italy have the name Rocco and Carmine. So they are pure Italian.

I have done lots of searches and came across the names you mentioned here and DH and I don't care for them at all with or without Carmine.

Thanks anyway ; )

maybe that is my confusion...since everyone in Brooklyn is from Naples or below...it seems like they are pure Brooklyn...

like another poster says, as long as you are happy, you should do what you like. No one will be calling your sons name more than you will.
