FH really likes rock, but I am scared he is going to pick some weird and or crazy stuff for the reception which I do NOT want. Does anyone know of any acceptable rock songs to play at the reception?

Re: rock music at reception?
We def. had rock played -
AC/DC - Shook me all night long Bon Jovi - Living on a Prayer Poison - Nothing but a Good Time Def Leopard - Pour Some Sugar on Me
they are just fun songs to sing along to and dance. Everyone enjoyed it.

We had a few of the ones mentioned above- Pour some sugar on me was actually our cake cutting song.
We didnt have a traditional wedding band- we had Peat Moss and the Fertilizers play (bar band) so we had a good amount of rock played.

We're having a bar band also - and there will be a good amount of rock music - Rolling Stones, John Mellancamp, Bon Jovi, etc. (just not any crazy heavy metal stuff). FH and I love that kind of music and when this band play in bars, there's always a big dance crowd. I think it's fun and most people will really like it

Remember that the DJ can help you feel this one out to. Tell them you want rock, this is what my husband likes, etc... but use your discretion! They know how to get the crowd going and if it's going in the wrong direction, then they know what to play to bring it back!
I think sometimes people get too much into their 'must play list' and the crowd might not be into that vibe at that time. Example: A wedding where they requested some house/dance/techo be played --- it was a bit too much and no one danced except for the BP - who looked like they just got back from Miami or Neptunes and slipped on their dresses and tuxes. Or another time some disco was requested - I'm guessing it was these songs in particular - and 2 older couples did some ball room dancing while everyone else sat at the table.

I am having a bit of rock music at my reception!!! I think whatever music you like is what should be played. We are having a wide veriety of music styles.. but we are making sure that there will be some of our favorites added in the mix too! Our DJ mentioned possibly doing some 'mash-ups' (rock songs mixed with some dance beats). So, we are going to meet with him eventually to pick some. FH and I are both rock/punk fans

I definitely agree with this as well. I thought our DJ did a phenomenal job feeling out the crowd on what was getting them up and dancing and played mostly that. There were a bunch of songs on our Must Play list that were never played but we didn't care because we appreciated more the fact that the DJ played what kept people on the dancefloor.

I don't think playing rock is a problem at all. Remember this is YOUR WEDDING!
As long as you guys are having fun that is all that matters!!!!!

Re: rock music at reception?
lol so I gave FH 1 hard rock song to pick. So we will have Tool- Lateralis which is an awesome song, not 1 i would have picked for the wedding, but FH is happy.
Then we also picked a few more 'wedding friendly' rock songs like some of the ones listed above hehe Thanks for the suggestions!
