Are any of you girls from Rockville Centre? FH and I are thinking that might be where we get an apartment once we are married. Any tips on location, etc.?

One of my BMs lives in RVC, they have a co-op though, so I can't help with location much. But she likes it there!

Re: Rockville Centre
Thanks! Yea, FH and I are both from Northport, so we were thinking about staying in the Northport/Huntington area. However, I work in the city and would LOVE to be closer if possible. RVC is sooo nice and seems like a great place for a young couple. FH has a couple work friends in RVC, too...so he is liking the idea.

Re: Rockville Centre
FH and I just bought a co-op there and we LOVE it!!!!!! There are apartment buildings right around the corner from us but I've never been in them so I dunno how nice they are.
The town itself is so great. We are walking distance to so many restaurants and bars, the train station is 2 blocks away from us. Everyone is super friendly too!
We could be neighbors

I might need to pick your brain about co-ops. I don't know much about them, but everyone keeps telling us that maybe we should look into one as well. Do you want me as a neighbor literally??

Re: Rockville Centre
FH and I just moved to RVC. We're renting an apt right on Lincoln and so far so good! FH is living there but I've been moving in gradually and will obv. offically be there next month after the wedding.
We love that we can walk to almost anywhere we need to go and it's a walk to the train station. Parking can be a pain in the butt but so far we're very lucky.
FYI - unless your planning to stay somewhere for at least 3 years it's not worth it to buy anything. You won't have a lot of equity in it once you sell it if it's too soon.
Oh, MOST of rvc are co-ops, not rental apartments but check craigslist and mlsli.com. Ours was a new listing and we said yes a week later so you gotta be fast with RVC.

Thank you!!! Yea, our 'goal' would be to save save save and hopefully buy a house around 2-3 years of being married. Renting is probably the best option for us.
Are you in a complex or a house? TIA!

That's our 'goal to'. I LOVE RVC and know I can't afford to buy a home here for a long time so renting was perfect!
We're living in a garden apartment. There are 3 other apartments in our section of the larger building but there are 7 other sections with 4 apartments in each. The rent is pretty good and under what our max was which is great. PLUS, it's town electric so we'd only pay like $50 every other month. If I hear of anything available I'll let you know.

Feel free to FM me if you have any questions about co-ops. I was set on buying a house but we just couldn't afford it, and FH is against renting bc he feels like we're throwing our money away soooo co-ops were the best choice for us.
You do need to plan on staying in a co-op for a few years if you want it to be worth it so we got a 2 bedroom. We are comfortable staying there until we are ready for baby # 2 so it will be atleast 6 years. If you have any questions don't hesitate to ask

Re: Rockville Centre
I live in oceanside but i love RVC. there are a lot of Co-op's there not to many condo's and it hard to find too many apartment buildings if you want to rent. I think there are some though just south of south park ave, where all the bars and restaurants are. that's a nice area, its right of merrick rd and sunrise ( where they meet)
